Look, it wasnt about lack of gamefilm on Tua.

Fleabags lost bc Kirby was Muschumpin. He got up by 20-3 and tried to run out the clock. Did Tua do better than Hurts? Of course.... but in the end it was conservative play calling that prevented the victory again.

I really enjoy it the Barn destroying Uglies the first time, but this was even better really.

Kirby Dumbchump may have built himself a nice cushion with great recruiting-- mostly due to Butterteeth being too lazy to even bother with recruiting-- however, he is not much of an x's and O coach. He's not going to beat you with his game planning an in-game adjustments. He's pretty Dumbo Fisherish so far.

We are good if Mullinz does his part.

Hurts was a true freshman last year, Kirby was already at UGA, how much could Kirby know?
Just surmising. Maybe Kirby learned something about Hurts while he was being recruited. He certainly had two seasons worth of tape on Hurts, including how he was used by the OC. I doubt he had much of anything on Tua. Conversely, Nick knew plenty about Kirby. I found Saban's pregame quote abouy his intention to use Tua interesting, considering Tua was a freshman who didn't play much during the season and the magnitude of the game.

it's very true... Lane may be a complete douchecanoe, but he is one hellva offensive play-caller.

FIFY. “Coach” implies a certain degree of leadership. I’m sure lane has some, until adversity punches him in the mouth.

Didn’t really watch, so I hope your analysis is spot on.

I'm not sure we should be calling Saban a genius over the decision to change quarterbacks in the middle of a national championship game. Late might be the better term. People in the know want to question why it wasn't done earlier. Saban refused to budge on Hurts and it almost cost him a shot at a sixth Bama title. Apparently it wasn't even that close -- Tua was that much better.

The truth is, the Saban genius is in the machine he's built, not the sideline coaching. And with it comes inflated expectations. With the kind of talent he's surrounded himself with, coaches and athletes, you expect a championship run not just this year but every year. Only one thing can get in the way of Saban, and that seems to be Saban himself.

Seems to be the greatest weakness of defensive coaches - once they get a lead, they almost always fall back to trusting the defense to protect the lead and not trusting the offense to play mistake free. It works against overmatched opponents but it’s a dangerous way to coach against similarly or more talented teams.

My face hurts from smiling for ~20 straight hours and counting
I just checked and it is clear that Ugly tears still taste great 24 hours later.

I wonder if there are any suicide rate data we can research.

Honestly, I thought Tua was better since the first time I saw him play. I guess it all worked out in the end! ROLL TIDE!
