This is the best of both worlds. Bama beats UGA and UCF tops Bama without a single snap taken. Win-win.

Daddy likes.... and bama gets a taste of their own medicine of being on the opposite end of made up/claimed national championships. It would make their fans go ape sh!!t and I'd absolutely love it. You should've seen the stuff they were saying about Auburn when AU was considering going back and retroactively awarding themselves some NC's... If Auburn did what they did and used the SAME criteria bama used then AU would have at least 3 more NC's. Yet bama was going insane over AU just contemplating doing exactly what bama did... I mean they were going absolutely crazy over it. Know your history bozos...

Basically, just enjoy what should be a hard-fought football game. No need to overthink it all.

FL embraces the unusual.
Who could forget the secession of the "Conch Republic" back in 1982.
Good times!

Sagarin, New York times, sporting news, and 19 other publications. Tied for 22 with BYU, who got the AP. Why we dont claim it is a mystery to me.

Two words: Marshall Criser. He was SO mortified by the publicity etc. from Pell and our probation.

I claim it. Only have the SEC Championship Coke bottle from 1984, though.

NFL to recognize undefeated UCF team at the Pro Bowl

https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-recognize-undefeated-ucf-team-143723995.html

The University of Central Florida declared itself the real national champion after finishing its season as the only undefeated team in major college football, winning a bowl game over Auburn, the team that beat the generally recognized national champion, Alabama. The NFL is staying out of that debate, but the league will recognize the UCF team at the Pro Bowl.

This year’s Pro Bowl is played in Orlando, where UCF is located, and the NFL has decided to honor UCF’s undefeated team at the game.

Orlando Sentinel.' data-reactid="20">“When we thought about UCF and the amazing season they had going undefeated and their bowl game win, we thought there was really no better way, especially in the city of Orlando, to do something for that college celebration of football than to honor the UCF team in the stadium on Sunday,” said Matt Shapiro, director of events strategy for the NFL, to the Orlando Sentinel.

Three UCF players — Shaquem Griffin, Tre’Quan Smith and Jordan Akins — won’t be there. They’re trying to earn a place in the NFL, at the Senior Bowl.

Rick Scott is a lying, thieving, dishonest crook and is one of the worst things to happen to FL. So anything out of his mouth is most likely a lie.

From Wikipedia, (of course I actually rememer all this happening)

Columbia/HCA
On March 19, 1997, investigators from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Health and Human Services served search warrants at Columbia/HCA facilities in El Paso and on dozens of doctors with suspected ties to the company.

Eight days after the initial raid, Scott signed his last SEC report as a hospital executive before resigning. He was succeeded by Thomas F. Frist Jr. Four months later the board of directors pressured Scott to resign as Chairman and CEO. Scott was paid $9.88 million in a settlement, and left owning 10 million shares of stock worth over $350 million. The directors had been warned in the company's annual public reports to stockholders that incentives Columbia/HCA offered doctors could run afoul of a federal anti-kickback law passed in order to limit or eliminate instances of conflicts of interest in Medicare and Medicaid.

In settlements reached in 2000 and 2002, Columbia/HCA pleaded guilty to 14 felonies and agreed to a $600+ million fine in the largest fraud settlement in U.S. history. Columbia/HCA admitted systematically overcharging the government by claiming marketing costs as reimbursable, by striking illegal deals with home care agencies, and by filing false data about use of hospital space. They also admitted fraudulently billing Medicare and other health programs by inflating the seriousness of diagnoses and to giving doctors partnerships in company hospitals as a kickback for the doctors referring patients to HCA. They filed false cost reports, fraudulently billing Medicare for home health care workers, and paid kickbacks in the sale of home health agencies and to doctors to refer patients. In addition, they gave doctors "loans" never intending to be repaid, free rent, free office furniture, and free drugs from hospital pharmacies.

In late 2002, HCA agreed to pay the U.S. government $631 million, plus interest, and pay $17.5 million to state Medicaid agencies, in addition to $250 million paid up to that point to resolve outstanding Medicare expense claims. In all, civil lawsuits cost HCA more than $2 billion to settle; at the time this was the largest fraud settlement in U.S. history.
