How can a long snapper be rated a five-star player? He's one of the best 20-50 players in the whole country? And yet, he's only the 6th best long snapper of this class.... that, my friends, is a lot of bad-ass long snappers about to take the field. That's at least 6 5-star snappers!
They are most certainly a package deal so get 1 you get both...but we aren't getting all 4 of the lineman we are after and it's more likely we only end up with 2. Good possiblity we end up with NPF and Gouraige who have started to bond well during recruiting and all-star games. So which 2 would you want? Give me NPF and Gouraige over Barnes and Montilus.Agree, we need 2 of 3...but if we get Barnes we're also getting Montilus (and I'm fine w/ that). I just hope we don't whiff!!
Maybe they will all hit it off and decide to commit as a group to the good guys. We also have all 4 of them coming the same weekend right now which i don't necessarily think is a great thing but we have to take their visits when we can get them.

I guess I understand if Barnes goes to UNC because his parents (or at least his mom) is a Carolina grad. That being said, the Tar Heels were awful this year and Fedora is going to be on the hot seat soon unless he turns things around quickly. Lots of their fans are already frustrated with him. Maybe Barnes would be an example of choosing a school and not a coach. Still, you would think having a former high school teammate at UF would carry some weight.
That would be amazing but unlikely... but stranger things have happened.Maybe they will all hit it off and decide to commit as a group to the good guys. It could happen.
10th or better is Mac-like.
Let's not candy coat it. If he can't manage to get a top 8 class by 2020 then he'll probably never do it and it would be wise to jettison him if he's going 9-4 every year. The bottom line is he is here to win and recruit with the big boys. Win, recruit top 5 or be gone. It's that simple.
Butters classes were 21, 12, 11. So cracking the Top 10 is NOT "Mac-like". It's 20+% better. Yes, Mullen should be able to get a top 8 class. But, to be clear, Butters never cracked the top 10.
That fine. I get what you are saying. My issue is and always will be closing the talent gap. 9-15 isn't good enough. This year is a transition year so it's mulligan. I won't even point out that every national champion in this century has had minimum of 1 top 5 class in the 4 preceding years with most having two. Recruit or die someone once said.
You don’t “out talent” teams at the top levels. Coaching comes into play. If it didn’t, there would be no reason to play the game. UGA was better than us in 2015 and 2016 and we beat them both times.
Rex, I totally agree w/ you. Did you see the post I put up a few pages back w/ the number of blue-chippers? We're around 19th, I think....and the gap is HUGE! If we beat UGA in the next two years it will be a miracle. Seriously, they can simply out talent us. It's disgusting what Butters did (or didn't do) in recruiting....

We do not even know who the starting QB is.There’s no doubt in my mind we beat UGA this season. None.
