No doubt...guess Ancient still hasn't gotten over the Mac firing.

Weird times
When you get that Ole Yeller tramp stamp on you azz, there is no turning back.

I think he is secretly (and really) just an Ole Piss fan, so this whole think has been hard on him.

People in M'ssippi make fun of us firing great coaches like Ole Yeller, plus us hiring a Cowbell coach (with the obvious implications of Mssippi schools still being third tier) has been rough on him.

I mean Dan Mullen, not known for being a great recruiter, has come in and in two months has a chance to sign a better class than Mac did in three years...

Anyone still riding the Mac dick is obviously troubled....

Who’s announcing?
There’s a dozen targets remaining on the board, so it will be a busy day for Florida coach Dan Mullen. He and his staff have room for six more recruits in the 2018 class. Here’s a look at who is making their decisions:

  • Caleb Tannor, 4-star LB: 8:45 a.m. ET (Auburn, Florida, Nebraska)
  • Justin Watkins, 4-star WR: 9:15 a.m. ET (Florida commit)
  • Griffin McDowell, 3-star OG: 10 a.m. ET (Florida commit)
  • Nicholas Petit-Frere, 5-star OT: 10 a.m. ET hour on ESPNU (Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State)
  • Andrew Chatfield, 4-star LB: 10 a.m. ET hour on ESPNU (Florida, Florida State, Miami)
  • Nesta Silvera, 4-star DT: 10 a.m. ET (Florida, Miami)
  • Malcolm Lamar, 4-star DE: 10 a.m. ET (Florida, Florida State)
  • Noah Boykin, 4-star CB: 11:30 a.m. ET (Florida, Notre Dame)
  • Jacob Copeland, 4-star WR: 2:00 p.m. ET hour on ESPN2 (Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee)
  • Caleb Johnson, 3-star DE: 2:30 p.m. ET (Auburn, Florida, Georgia)
  • Richard Gouraige, 4-star OT: 2:30 p.m. ET (Auburn, Florida, Clemson)
  • Malik Langham, 4-star DE: 3:30 p.m. ET (Alabama, Auburn, Florida)
  • Dorian Gerald, JUCO DE: N/A (Arkansas, Florida, Louisville, Texas A&M)
  • Fabien Lovett, 3-star DL: N/A (Florida, Mississippi State, Ole Miss)

So basically i might pay attention to only a handful of those. Tannor, Chatfield, Boykin, Copeland, and Garage

I think we have a shot at 9 of those (w/ Boykin, Watkins, and Griffin almost 100% - the others are toss-ups).

The ones I listed are the ones I think are really the only potential to flip or sign with us that is not guaranteed or that we have no shot at so it's why I am watching them...

If we take 9, that leaves us with 1 if Goldkamp is accurate when he said today that we are getting RR's counter back...

Think we get 8. Leaves us with a few spots if a transfer wants in over the summer

This is from crucial, so take w/ a grain of salt:

Who’s trending?
UP
  • Noah Boykin: The writing has been on the wall with Boykin since last month. He officially visited Florida on Jan. 19 and de-committed from Maryland the following week. Ohio State and Penn State reportedly tried to get him on campus late, but he did not make either trip.
  • Jacob Copeland: Copeland took his final official visit to Florida last weekend and received the red-carpet treatment from coaches and players. The combination of Alabama losing some key assistants in Copeland’s recruitment and Florida hiring a staff that he likes has put the Gators back in the driver’s seat.
  • Andrew Chatfield: Miami began gaining momentum with Chatfield in early November, but that has changed in recent weeks. He received an in-home visit from Mullen and then officially visited Florida on Jan. 26. He has been trending toward the Gators since that trip.
DOWN
  • Malcolm Lamar: Lamar has seemingly been a lock to Florida State since Willie Taggart became the head coach. He took a trip to Florida and received an in-home visit from Mullen last Thursday, but the former Oregon commit tipped his hand by returning to FSU over the weekend.
  • Malik Langham: Alabama was still the top school for Langham after his official visit to Florida on Jan. 26. He checked out Auburn last weekend as well, but even the in-state Tigers won’t be able to turn the tide on Alabama’s lead.

I mean Bowl-Cut really stating the obvious. Lamar and Langham were never coming here

Looking like we may have lost Caleb Tannor to Nebraska based on the recent Crystal Ball trend.

On the positive side, things are looking good with Chatfield though.

How many of those kids committed while Mac was the coach? I hate Mac but let's be real here...Mullen is doing well by keeping those kids that were already committed and grabbing some new ones.

Truly don't understand what you are saying. I believe that coaching is more important than recruiting. I don't even believe that recruiting is as important as most here believe. But as far as recruiting goes, regardless of national ranking, I refuse to consider it a success unless we beat FSU. Another way to put it, recruiting isn't particularly important, but beating fsu at anything is important. How often have we beaten FSU in recruiting in the last decade?

Two problems with this statement...first being that recruiting does matter and if you look back in the last decade, no team has won a title that has finished outside the top 5 in recruiting...stars do matter.

Secondly, beating FSU in recruiting doesn't mean jack if the class isn't a well rounded class with needs filled. FSU is likely to finish higher than us this year due to their absolutely loaded DB class. The rest of their class sucks compared to ours...so you're going to say our class wasn't a success because of that?

You're name is ancient, doesn't mean you have to have archaic thinking....

(from TOS recruiting board):

Malcolm Lamar: CB’d to the Noles by 247 82% UF 9%. I think it’s closer than that but in the end he signs with free Willie. My fsu contact is less sure than me.

Patrick Surtain: My lsu guy has gotten less sure by the day. I’m betting the field over lsu which would put a knife in many tiger fans heart.

FSU: say they do get ML, they still are signing 4 guys who UF would not want or will not qualify. Remember Jalen Goss who was let go by the previous staff; he is one of their guys. Xavier Peters-who was projected to not get into UF, he is one of their guys. Keyshon Helton, a small speedster that I personally like but is ranked about 1200 or so, is one of their guys. Do you get the picture?

FSU 2: Free Willie has been trying to create spots but we will not know the damage with coaches for a year or two. My question is why try to create spots if you are filling them with guys FSU would not normally take.

Tyson Campbell: I expect him to sign with UGA.

Malik Langham: I expect Langham to sign with Bama

Fabian Lovett: UF has picked up some CB’s for Fabian. I think it is a case of UF getting in to late but I’m open to being wrong on this one as I think he is going to be a hell of a player for someone.

So who does UF get?

For a change let’s begin with DEFENCE

Andrew Chatfield: The AH lineman will be a great Gator.

Caleb Johnson: The staff loves the guy and believes he is under rated. Let’s hope they are correct.

Dorian Gerald: loved his visit and I believe will sign with UF.

Nesta Silvera: I know, I have held off on this for two days. I was told that UF was more in the mix than anyone knew. Silvera loves UF and is truly torn. My Cane contact told me he was not hearing good things from a UM perspective. I am 50/50 which is what I believe Silvera is at this time.

Noah Boykin: don’t believe the ND rumors. I am told he is a silent for signing day.

Offense:

McDowell: has already committed. Good addition IMO

King Richard: I will be shocked if he signs with Auburn.

NPF: Did some late checking and even OSU thinks UF is the favorite.

Watkins: Has already committed and I believe he will be an exciting player.

Copeland: The guy sends mixed signals but I believe he is a special kid. I will have more on him after signing day.

Caleb Tannor: my least confident pick but I’m relying on what I read and hear.UF is trending.

That is 24 if those guys sign and some of you are skeptical of Nesta Silvera and Tannor and I get that.

The last spot or spots are open to

Malcolm Lamar: just can't see him at fsu for some reason.

And or

Fabian Lovett

Signing day always brings a shock or two. Could UF get one? I suspect so. Hopefully on the good side.

Final Thoughts prior signing day: This staff is and has done everything they can to insure a good class. I do believe that UF is in great shape going forward with a balance of good recruiters and excellent coaching.

Final Tidbit: Do not be shocked if UF gets someone no one saw coming. Sorry, but that’s all I can say about that.
