Did you read the article about the recruiting machine Kirby built at UGA?

Have not. I may try to, but I really don't see the point. The proof is in the pudding and he's done all the right things from top to bottom. The end. Good for him. I still think when we have our own elite talent, we can beat anyone. Yesterday, and 12-20 were a step in that direction.

Richt and Kirby = same guy

Stellar recruiters. Choke away a lead in the 2nd half of a big game.
Richt was given his walking papers because he couldn’t win in Jax.
To follow some of the posters, I believe that this class is a sign of us working our way out of the ditch we've been in for the last several years. First of all, it has better star power than what we had under McElwain's watch and second, the positional balance or roster management outweighs what was customary from both Butters and Muschamp. Step 2 is going to be how these recruits and the rest of the roster are not only physically coached-up, but also trained and required to be more team and school-focused. The jury on Mullen and staff will be out until we see these aspects being put into production. Or first glimpse has been the change in S&C and a better emphasis on academic accountability (got the latter second-hand). The Spring game should give us a better picture from a team X's and O's and fundamentals standpoint.

We may not have wound up in the top 10 recruiting this cycle, and I know many are still taking a cautious look at how effective Mullen's offense and defense will be here at UF compared to what was accomplished at MissSt, but you have to like what he was able to do with the recruiting in such a short span. Personally, I don't think he has put as much time, effort, and energy into his genesis as the HBC to sit back and see if the program will do OK on auto-pilot. I think he and the staff will do what it takes to not only get us back to respectability, but make us competitive for the top prizes. Whether that definitely will happen and how soon if so remains to be seen, but again, you have to appreciate what he has brought thus far, particularly compared to what we've been getting. I feel like a measure of pride was restored yesterday.
The voice of reason, as always.

Here is the correct version of the saying you tried to quote:

The proof of the pudding is in the eating!

Copeland to his mother, "Ma, whatcha gonna do if I pick Florida?"
Mom, "Probably Run the heck out of there before I scream, 'God, No, Jesus.' on live TV."
Copeland, "You know I love you mom. I think you'd look so good in Blue."
Mom to herself, "Please Lord, let it Bama. Or Tennessee at the very least."

Imagine if your son decides to go to UGA or FSU? Half of you would probably shoot yourselves.
You act like shes a Bama grad, die hard, and throws up every time she sees orange and blue sunsets. She didnt want her son going to Florida because Saban went after the mom, while Mullen and Gonzo went after the father relationship wise. Thats literally it. Point blank. And why would Copeland say “ma” and “whatcha”? You don’t think she taught him proper english? Kinda racist dont you think? Why would you question her parenting this way? Classless if you ask me. Take a lap

I shouldnt have called her a POS. Obviously over the top. She did apoligize immediately which was great. I’m sure she’s a great mother to him. He doesn’t get in trouble. But still an incredibly embarrassing and selfish thing to do on national television.

Read it and you'll understand. The guy came in with a plan and executed it. The worm has turned. The attitude that Smart is Richt 2.0 is an utter fallacy. Next year will tell us all we need to know about Mullen. It needs to be top 5 or we'll know what we have.

A bit of speculation on 247 boards that Watkins may move to corner to start off. Makes a bit of sense...Mullin talked of him as an athlete, not a receiver in the presser. Also, with three other 4-5 star receivers in the fold (plus Cleveland, Toney, etc) there may be a more pressing need for a corner since Boykin bolted.

I've been seeing this as well, and it makes sense especially w/ the two WR transfers. He's a great athlete and we missed at CB (Dean can play there, but is more of a Safety).

Hats off to Smart. He did it all by himself. Are you finished polishing his knob?

Georgia owns it's own state. They have very good homegrown talent and have always done an excellent job of recruiting their own state. Most kids that grow up in Ga dream of playing football there. GT is not a real concern to them. For the last 10 years Bama comes in and plucks a pearl much like they do here and wherever else they are interested. AU and SC typically get whats left. We occasionally get some out of south Ga. The recruiting competion here in Fla is fierce to say the least, and it's not just in-state. We went a long way yesterday towards filling our needs with high quality players. Now we need to start winning and take back the state of Florida. IMO that's a couple more years.

He is right. Richt never lost 41-7 to Auburn.

And Richt never almost beat Saban in a championship game...... except that one time.

I think we did a good job of not freaking out and taking projects. We have a big class to fill next year so hopefully we end up top 5, which traz will tell you is impossible with such a god awful staff. But from a numbers perspective it’s a very real possiblity. I’ll be blown away if we cant make a big jump to a 50-60 type offense.

It's just the internet.

I really dont give a shyt about a DB. You shouldnt either. DT is a bigger deal but we landed such a sweet class last year that it no doubt affected us.

Im not sold on Cousin Eddie. You know I hated the hire, but he has done well so far.

Our class has a higher gpa than Clown Towns and we didnt taken 6DBs, 4 WRs and 2-3 more that wont qualify like they did....and we dont get credit four two 4 star transfers.

Ugly did have a beast of a 1st and 3rd class. One step at a time for us.

Darn if I'm not liking Swamp's posts lately!

Can someone remind me of the name of the trophy Georgia gets for having the top "rated" recruiting class?

Kirby Smart may be the next Belichick but he's currently 1-1 against Jim freakin' McElwain. UF has won 3 of the last 4 against Georgia even with two lousy coaches in charge.

I despise UGA, their logo, their colors, Larry Munson, Erk Russell, Buck Belue, the phrase "hunker down" and grown women barking like dogs.

Yes, they had a good season and a good signing class but the jury is still out on Smart as an in-game coach and whether they are the "new Bama". Based on principle I will not come on a Florida message board and sing the praises of the so-called mighty Dogs.

Let me know when they have a streak of 18--3 against the Gators. Maybe then I'll acknowledge their greatness.

Yeah, let's ignore reality. I've been on here for years banging this drum. We have to close the talent gap. What's Dan's record vs ranked teams? Nevermind.

That IS the reality. UGA and FSU are stellar recruiters and have been for years. They just don’t win NC’s very often as a result of it. FSU should be in the middle of a freaking dynasty right now. They’re not. 5-star U went 7-6 last year. Georgia should have won one this year but they did what they do. The moment is always too big for them. Always has been. Now Miami is Richting.....huge recruiting cycle...already disappointing their fans down the stretch of big games.

I know what Mullen’s history was in big games somewhere else. I know what Mullen’s record in big games at Florida was. Good thing for us is he won’t be playing with Mississippi State’s lineup over here. I suspect he just might perform better with our guys over the next 3 years.

Again I remind you....those that win NC’s have huge recruiting cycles.....but not everybody that has huge recruiting cycles win’s NC’s. UGA and FSU are exhibits A and B.

I’m also not convinced that we cannot win one if Mullen pulls a #6 or #8 next year.... doesn’t necessarily have to be 1-5. Get the right guys in the right spots strategically.... we could be NC’s by year 3.

I will crown Kirby when he does what Saban does. Until then he is a super salesman. Appears to be a good man, great recruiter, cares for his players but I’m not sure he won’t shrink on the biggest stage.

No I did not want Mullen. Yes I am very pleased with his performance so far. Enthusiasm, energy, work ethic, recruiting, setting high expectations, rebuilding culture within. Now lets give him a chance to coach.

I grew up the only Gator in a large extended family of UGA fans during the Dooley years. Lots of cousins and uncles, all obnoxious when winning. I used to get a half dozen sympathy cards in the mail the week after the WLOCP, filled with their so-called attempts at humor ("sorry for your loss", etc.). Holiday gatherings were no fun. The wounds run deep. Thankful for Spurrier turning the tide.
