That IS the reality. UGA and FSU are stellar recruiters and have been for years. They just don’t win NC’s very often as a result of it. FSU should be in the middle of a freaking dynasty right now. They’re not. 5-star U went 7-6 last year. Georgia should have won one this year but they did what they do. The moment is always too big for them. Always has been. Now Miami is Richting.....huge recruiting cycle...already disappointing their fans down the stretch of big games.

I know what Mullen’s history was in big games somewhere else. I know what Mullen’s record in big games at Florida was. Good thing for us is he won’t be playing with Mississippi State’s lineup over here. I suspect he just might perform better with our guys over the next 3 years.

Again I remind you....those that win NC’s have huge recruiting cycles.....but not everybody that has huge recruiting cycles win’s NC’s. UGA and FSU are exhibits A and B.

I’m also not convinced that we cannot win one if Mullen pulls a #6 or #8 next year.... doesn’t necessarily have to be 1-5. Get the right guys in the right spots strategically.... we could be NC’s by year 3.

I will crown Kirby when he does what Saban does. Until then he is a super salesman. Appears to be a good man, great recruiter, cares for his players but I’m not sure he won’t shrink on the biggest stage.

No I did not want Mullen. Yes I am very pleased with his performance so far. Enthusiasm, energy, work ethic, recruiting, setting high expectations, rebuilding culture within. Now lets give him a chance to coach.
Great post. Well founded in fact and very well said. The only true measure of DM's worth is the job he does HERE & NOW, AT UF.

Perhaps something to keep an eye on.......

"And lastly, the most important piece of this: Burrow is on track to graduate in May. That means he could transfer after spring ball, be immediately eligible to play somewhere else, and have two years of eligibility remaining."

Good find. Too bad he wasn't able to transfer in December.

This is from Only Gators:

5. The Gators are hiring: Interestingly enough, a job posting went out early Wednesday before National Signing Day officially began with Florida looking for multiple recruiting staff members to be hired immediately. Whether those are purely to replace departures from McElwain’s team or UF is staffing up remains to be seen, but the timing was certainly curious.

There are rumors out there Dan is looking for a grad transfer QB.

Doesn't surprise me. Franks is Franks....and EJ is a true freshman. I'd rather a transfer arrive in January so they could participate in spring practice, but it is what it is. He'd be a good one. Texas is another school he'd probably look at.

Driskel was not a 5*, quit calling him one.

Franks will likely start. He is taking on a major leadership role this offseason. I never thought he could, but those are the reports. If he is willing to buy in, he might turn out to be serviceable if he wasn’t completely ruined. I have never been a Franks fan, but if the reports are true, it’ll be hard not to give him a shot unless he is just that bad.

Wrong again, JD was a 5* on Scout. Evidently no one around here liked Scout, but they did have him as a 5.

I'm holding out hope Franks will be a decent QB. He's got the tools, he hasn't had the coaching. JD had a great year for the Mud Dogs, or whatever directional school he was at, and he was on the Bengals active roster last year. Sometimes all you need is a decent QB coach and system instead of the cluster that was the chump regime.

It is a little late for that.

Is it too late?

I don’t know about Burrow’s ability, but he was a 4* out of HS, #2 on the depth chart behind Barrett and is therefore familiar with the offense. I think he’s a much better fit with Mullen than Zaire was with mac. We have a spare scholly... can’t hurt to try.

Yeah I saw "Senior Tackle" in that first paragraph and moved on.

By too late, I mean too late for him to get to spring practice. I really dont expect an GT to be ready to play with only a couple of weeks in August.... but if anyone could, it would be someone running Creyer's playbook, the same playbook for the most part.

When you run you QB 40 times a game, you should have many of them and obviously Allen and Trash will never step on the field.

Yeah..... if you like scoring 17 points, he was great.

I only look at rivals. Scout (now 247) is crap and ESPN (basically interns) is a total joke. Dont think any other services have survived. I dont subscribe or look at either.

Rivals is very southeast focused though, but for us thats all that matters.

Yeah, if only OSU averaged the 17 you said instead of the 47 they averaged on the field... And go ahead and dislike my post, I know the truth hurts.
