Less seats, higher prices, when the TV bubble blows up it's going to be ugly.
It is already blowing up. ESPN is in a freefall and being run by interns who want to make it into a Snowflake Network. They fired most of their paid staff in costsaving moves and use contractors for the production crews. Their on air talent game crews are about all that is left

The numbers just dont work and their Snowflake stuff is making it worse.

I can't think of a time when it wasn't a bastion for liberalism, and that goes back further than Olbermann.

No, not like today. ESPN has chosen a curious path towards separating it from the crowd.
You mean separating itself from viewers and revenue?

I dont why any damn entertainer is dumb enough not to know you should never piss off 40-50% of your fanbase.

CNN and ESPN have very similar roots. The grand thinkers got caught up in believing they were visionaries. Sometimes viewers just want news, not the opinion of some a**wipe whom they have no connection to.

Well, we talk about the kids being more into calculus and physics than blocking and tackling but there is another element at play. We grew up on football. These kids grew up on youtube. They are into athletes like Shaun White. Video games are real sports to them. For alumni, it’s easier, cheaper, and far more comfortable to stay home and watch on the 70 inch. But there are big gaps in the student section. All they have to do is put on a baseball hat and walk to the stadium. I don’t think they are as passionate as fans of earlier eras.

My wife and I dated very briefly, so the first game she attended was the 2008 opener against Hawaii, 8 months into marriage and 5 months pregnant. In typical Swamp fashion, it was smoldering hot and humid, and then started raining as we approached the line to get in. So out comes everyone's ponchos, creating a spectacular potpourri of body odor, snuffed out cigar, garbage, mustard, and of course poorly stored mildewed plastic that had been marinating for approximately 9 months. To no surprise, the thickness of this almost unbreathable air caught her attention, and she asked me what it was. As nervous as I was that a newcomer like herself would at a minimum, throw up and possibly vow to never attend another game, I answered quite simply: this is a Gator football game. And every time I walk into the stadium now, and catch that whiff, it just further reminds me how much I love it.

I'm not taking shots at anyone here, so don't take it personally. And I'm not talking about throwing in the towel of seasons like we've had recently and bailing on some of the later games. Nor am I minimizing some of the legitimate health reasons for those getting up there in age. But I really don't get the general lack of attendance, especially for those within an hour's drive. Yes it's hot. Yes there are crowds. Sure it's not the perfect bathroom setup. But there are 8,760 hours in a calendar year. How some can't bring themselves to be uncomfortable for roughly 18-20 of those each season, for a unique event, blows my mind.
