I enjoy reading Will's stuff because he digs in to data to try to prove patterns. I don't always agree with his take-away but more often than not he opens my eyes to something I haven't considered before.

His film study on prospective UF QBs looks to be interesting. He's an avowed Toney homer, so it's no surprise that the first in the series is on his man. Gotta admit, Kadarius has a better arm than I thought he'd have and seems to progress through reads well.

I'll post links to his articles on all of the QBs here. Links only due to length of the articles and multiple videos. No need for me to slow down everyone's interweb experience.

Good stuff. I think Mullen said Toney will stay at WR. Couldn't hurt to coach him up as emergency QB though.

That isnt at all what he said. What he said was "within the base system I want him learning how to be a wide receiver too."

That is just what Bowl wanted to hear so it is what he made the headline.

I think most fans were screaming for Toney to get more opportunities last year at QB, especially after noodle arm went down and Franks was clearly getting worse. I’m sure Mullen will give Toney several touches a game, but as stated in the article, his durability is a huge question mark in Mullen’s type of offense. Toney does seem to possess that “it” factor that you want, I just hope he can stay healthy this year. He’s a spark this offense desperately needs, however they decide to use him.

Here's what he said:
Receiver/Wildcat quarterback Kadarius Toney: "He's an H receiver. He'll play the same position Percy Harvin played when we were here before. For both our success short term and his success long term, that's going to be the best thing for him to do…You will see him line up at a lot of different positions, including quarterback, this year."

"Within the base system I want him learning how to be a wide receiver too,” Mullen said.

Not just QB/wildcat, but WR too.

We will see. I prefer him at WR but he will play QB and may well be our best option.

He will without a doubt be no worse than the 3rd string QB, depending on how well Jaylin Jackson does.

I think the best argument in favor of Toney at QB is that in order for the mismatches to occur there's gotta be someone behind center who's adept at distributing the ball to those playmakers in space. If there's not, you can have an all-world receiving corps without a mission. Still think he'll not see many reps at QB, though.

I hope Malik Davis comes back healthy and ready to go. I think he and Scarlett may be our best backs. I went to five games last year and every game I went to it was so apparent he was the best guy for the RB job. Just needed to give him the damn ball. He should have been getting 20-25 carries a game!

Trask had more offers to play QB than Toney did. He isn't playing QB at UF. Let it go. lol

With his ability, the guy has a chance to be a star at receiver and play at the next level. Staying at WR is best for the kid. I do expect him to run some packages out of the wildcat though.

:lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:

Being a preferred walkon at Houston Baptist (Div 3 has no real scholarships) isn't an "offer".

Trash is gone at the end of this semester. Unfortunately, there is no room for a Jake Allen either. He needs to go somewhere that he might have a chance to play. Maybe FAU.

I agree about Jake Allen. I think he transfers. I disagree about Trask. I don't think he plays at UF. I do think he stays. And Trask is Peyton Manning compared to Toney who is complete and utter horse shyte at QB.

Trash is Provancha-lite. Very lite. Mullinz isn't going to waste a scholarship on a backup to the scout team Qb, maybe the backup to the backup scout team QB.

At least Will admits his bias, it is unmistakable in reading the article. However, I still greatly appreciate the effort and analysis he puts into reviewing a player or position as opposed to throwing opinion out as fact. I look forward to the remaining articles on the other QBs.

I absolutely love how Trask plucks a nerve in donkey. Its hilarious to watch.
Yeah, I'm sure you did enjoy shytty players and even worse coaches, blowout losses and never-ending embarrassments.

Here’s a question for you scheme gurus. How would you compare Mullen’s offense to Malzahn’s? Each adapts to his players’ strengths, each has zone read elements, neither is pass first but applies that pressure if the QB is capable.

Reason I ask is anticipating the analysis of Franks. Big arm, accuracy and touch were issues but so was coaching & scheme, and everything else falling apart all around him. Big, gangly guy but he can actually run. What system would suit him or is he too limited in decision making to excel at this level?

Will Miles is legit and posts up some interesting stuff, good numbers guy.

I personally hope someone else besides Toney is the full-time QB (so Toney can play more of a Percy role). But he should definitely be considered.

Thanks for posting this up @Durfish

I've been in the woods (at the cabin in Shenandoah County) - how did you guys make out during the wind storm? I had 2 huge pine trees come down in the driveway - thank fully the chainsaw was working fine! Lost power for 10 hours). That storm was crazy!
