Here is what the a poster posted about St. Bonnies on a UCLA board:

St Bonaventure is not a big team by any measure ....

.... and a complete contrast to the Arizona team we just played. Here is a little info on them.

They only have two players on their roster over 6'6 and they aren't major scorers or rebounders. One is a 6'10, 245 lb soph who averages under 5 points and only 3 boards a game and the other is a 6'8, 205 lb soph who averages 5 points and 2.8 boards a game.

But they do have some very good and experienced guards who can put the ball in the hoop--- 2 are seniors (Adams and Mobley) and 1 is a junior (Stockard). As an example of their scoring ability, the three of them combined for 96 points in their 117 to 113 OT win over Davidson on Feb 27th.

Adams and Mobley are both around 6'3 and average 19.8 and 18.5 points respectively and Stockard is a 6'6 wing/guard who averages almost 13 a game. The three of them are good three-point and free throw shooters averaging 46%, 38% and 37% from t[he beyond the arc and 86%, 85% and 75% from the ft line.

They finished second in their conference at 14-4 and 25-7 overall. It took a hot shooting Davidson team (made 16 threes)in the Atlantic 10 tournament semi-finals to end their 13 game winning streak defeating them 82 to 70.

UCLA will certainly have the height advantage but will still have to do a good job guarding these three perimeter players. They may be somewhat similar in style of play to ASU in the PAC 12 conference.

Gator fans can realistically expect nothing. This year's coaching has built zero confidence for us, and apparently zero for our players to hold either. Let it play out. ??

Well they told us we had no chance to win this first game on the selection show.

Like I mentioned in the Chatbox, an announcer saying team X will lose first game. well if X wins then those announcers are eliminated from the tourney and can go no further. :D

I’m not terribly fond of playing the winner of a play in game, one of those teams always makes a run.
From ESPN:

Need a reason to pay attention to what happens in the Tuesday and Wednesday night NCAA tourney games? There's a seven-year trend that could help you pinpoint an early upset pick in your bracket.

Exactly one team from the First Four has advanced to the second round each year since its inception in 2011. Interestingly, in six of the seven years, it was the team that won Wednesday's non-16-seed game. In all, Tuesday night winners have won just one additional game in the tourney (Wichita State in 2016), while Wednesday's winners have won 11 additional games in those seven years, including USC's defeat of SMU in last year's first round.

So, who plays in the late game on Wednesday, you ask? That would be the aforementioned Arizona State-Syracuse matchup. Tuesday night's late game pits St. Bonaventure versus UCLA.

First Four participants to win in round of 64

Advanced To

2017 USC (11) Second round
2016 Wichita State** (11) Second round
2015 Dayton (11) Second round
2014 Tennessee (11) Sweet 16
2013 La Salle (13) Sweet 16
2012 South Florida (12) Second round
2011 VCU (11) Final Four
**Only Tuesday night winner to advance to second round

Seth Davis is the same douche who picked POSU to beat UF in the 2007 NCG. The other announcers all picked UF and roasted his sorry Gator hating ass after the game. I can't remember which one said it, but he scoffed that even with a bench loaded with officials, POSU was still no match for UF.

Agree. I'd rather face the Bruins.

Except:

1. UCLA is ranked 21 spots higher in Kenpom.

2. UCLA has height for UF to worry about while St. Bonaventure has little in the way of bigs.

3. St. Bonaventure has a key player battling a hamstring injury.

So all of those point to UCLA probably winning anyway.

I hope so.

Thankew veddy much - however I believe, on further reflection that the accolades may belong to Clark Kellogg.

I feel it's better for us to play St. Bonaventure

Of course:

1. St. Bonnie shoots better from the arc than UCLA by a couple of percentage points.

2. St. Bonnie has better depth than UCLA

3. St. Bonnie is just the type of team ala Loyola-Chicago that this group has failed to show up for.

So it cuts both ways and UF will get who UF gets.

Well so much for Kenpom or any of that other stuff. I unfortunately expected St B to win but really wanted UCLA. Living out here I have watched a bit of Pac 12 this year and it's a really bad league. We would have smoked UCLA which would have been fun, knocking them out yet again.

But we should stomp the Bonnies if we play even close to our potential.

Got a little nervous for a while FSU might actually make the Final Four.
Neither of those teams had any business playing for a berth in the Final Four.

That is just March Madness though. Top teams get knocked out in the early rounds and that opens up the brackets for other teams and gives them confidence that they can go all the way. FSU had an easy road against teams that don't play any D and they got hot at the right time. FSU was HORRIBLE during conference play.
