The SEC baseball tourney begins Tuesday in Hoover and even tho it is basically meaningless for the Gators it should be a great tourney. We play on Wed. at 5:30 against the winner of the MSU-LSU game. We will face either a team who just bytch slapped us like a rented mule for 3 straight days (MSU) or a team who might still be on the bubble to make the tourney (LSU has the lowest RPI of the 12 teams in the SEC tourney). Whether we are the #1 overall seed in the NCAA really does not matter to me, as we will be a top 8 seed regardless. Be that as it may, I do not want to make too much of Cowbell eating our lunch, but outside of some of the team play that has been mentioned, some individuals have been trending down and not just this past weekend. Wil Dalton has been going south since the KY series and Indy has been cold for a couple of weeks. This past weekend Butler, Byrne and Kowar were terrible, Butler and Byrne on more than one appearance.. On the positive side, Langworthy found some power and hit his first 2 HR's on the season and Tommy Mace pitched great. Hope we play well, win or lose, b/c it is officially tourney time and there is no margin for error, like there was against Cowbell.

I would just like to see us get our mojo back. 4 straight losses to end the season, plus 9-9 over the last 18, is a concern, at least for me.

Damn, you took the words right out of my mouth. Last year they struggled at the start of the year and got better as the season progressed, I'm seeing the opposite right now. And I'm not one of those that thinks you can just on a whim decide you're going to play better. The talent is of course still there, hopefully this is just a slump. The tournament is meaningless but I do hope to see some semblance of life; the stats you quote are pretty discouraging.

Gotta play like a championship team to wind up with a champ trophy.

Schwarz out with a broken hand. Hopefully he can get back for the NCAA tourney or at least for the CWS if we make it that far. Not a good time to catch the injury bug. Praying that Schwarz or at least Singer will be back for the tournament or we won't stand a chance of winning it all again.

Gators trail LSU 3-0 in 3rd inning. 2 of the runs are directly attributable to TWO Blake Reese throwing errors on routine grounders and SIMPLE throws. Reese has become a liability on defense and is hurting the team.

JJ not playing in tourney as has already been mentioned. Mace starting on the mound.

Gators have tied it at 3 and still batting in the 3rd. The LSU pitcher has poor control and we have strung together a couple of hits.

Game tied 3 apiece after 3 innings. Apparently I am not the only one tired on Reese's BS as Sully has benched him to start the 4th and Shifflett is playing 2B

Gators win 4-3. Good win. Excellent outing by Mace who goes 7 innings. Butler comes in to start the 8th inning and promptly walks the first batter he faces and Sully immediately comes to the mound and starts barking loudly. He was not happy with that BS walk. It was good to see Sully in tourney mode nad is not going to put up with any BS this time of year. After giving up a hit, Sully went to Byrne who pitched well for the save.

Sloppy defense and poor baserunning. Mace was great and Byrne got the save, making iy a nice win. They need to play cleaner ball against either Arkansas or South Carolina.

Not freaking out, just realistic. I've watched a lot of baseball in my 66 years on this earth and want a team playing well in all phases at the end of the season when it counts. This team was absolutely great the first 3/4 of the season, but very mediocre that last 1/4. 10-9 their last 19. Injuries to 2 key players and several guys slumping on offense and defense. Not the way you want to try to defend a national title. The talent is there, but they've got to play better if they want to have a chance.

This time of the year we're playing for the marbles. Sorry Reese has been struggling on D, but at this stage and at this level, you usually don't get the opportunity to "play through it." Kid had a bewildered look when they showed him on the bench in the game's latter stages. Get up or curl up.
