And it wasnt a blowout either. It was a loss, but we were peaking at the right time. I don't know anyone that wasn't excited with the prospect of going deep in the tourney. We were hot despite not having a lot of offense. This year its the complete opposite. Team has looked like the bad news bears for 2 weeks.

It’s baseball. Teams go through terrible stretches all the time, just so happens we are doing it at the end of the season (when we already have a national seed and home field wrapped up). These past 7-8 games have meant nothing at all. I do expect a switch to flip once the games start mattering more.

They’ve been trending down for longer than just this past 1-6 stretch, they’ve only played .500 ball for the last third of the season, but I’d much rather you be right. So dammit be right!

Lol I’m not promising anything, just not ready to panic or act like we aren’t still in a great position to make another trip to Omaha.

Game 1 in the Regional will be telling

Wow, we really got A$$BLASTED in 2 games on Friday. So glad I did not see them, LOL. But we got BYTCH slapped last year by ARK in the SEC tourney and found just enough to win it all. But I do agree that we have several areas that have been heading downward the past 20 games, so that is more of a concern.

This is a good wake up call. The last series as well as the SEC tourney means nothing to this squad. Sure I wish we would’ve played better, but this team has its eyes set on Omaha.

Too early to panic.
Too late to panic. I panicked after the MSU series.

The late season slide and the tournament performance is a concern. But as said earlier there is history from last season. O Sullivan seems to view the SEC tourney as a distraction to the big show. He has said before that winning the season title is the priority, No rings for winning the tournament. Kind of reminds me of how Spurrier used to view the FSU game right before the championship game. I think JJ will be back. The good news is that it is his right hand which for batting is not his lead bottom hand. We will probably see him at DH. The real concern is Singer and maybe Dyson. If both are healthy we should be ok in the Regionals. I think O Sullivan likes using these ass kickings as a way to re gain focus. We will see.

Yeah, 1 win in their last 8 games? Definitely a problem.

Thanks JJ, for you knowingly responding to our anxiety.
LSU game was a flabbergasting fluke = 9 unearned runs (box score lists 8, but they counted a 6th inning score on a wild pitch as earned ?).
So, we're bound to do better, amarite ? Sure wish Schwarz could rejoin in form - doubt it ?

Pulled from another board, interesting:

“So, now that the CWS field is set, let's re-visit the teams that "threw" their conference tournament compared to those who played to win it:
Oregon St: No conference tournament
Washington: No conference tournament
Texas: Played to lose the tournament, 2 & Q
Texas Tech: Played to lose the tournament, 1-2
UNC: 2 & Q
Mississippi State: One and done
Arkansas: Three games
Florida: 1-2

Compared to the teams that won their tournament:
ACC: FSU (4 games) Lost in Regional
SEC: Ole Miss (5 games) Lost in Regional
B12: Baylor (4 games) Lost in Regional

And, not to mention, LSU (6 games) Lost in Regional

Seems the smart move is to throw the conference tournament and rest up the staff. Just like these guys did”

What you think Gators?

I think it matters what your regular season standing is with regard to conference standing, SOS, RPI, etc. For UF the tourney is typically meaningless, but that is not to say you don;t want to play sound baseball regardless of who you pitch, etc. LSU needed to play well and did. Small conference teams like Morehead St. made the NCAA's by winning the tourney thus knocking an at large bid out b/c Tenn. Tech then became an at large. If you know you are in the tourney then I say use the conf. tourney for work, etc. if you might be able to become a top 8 seed then you have to play for that.
