Spanking me won't be a deterrent.

I don't really care what they do with softball. I just wish we'd spend football money on football instead of pocketing 80 million of it every year and pleading poverty. Our Athletic Department is the WKRP in Cincinnati of college football.

FIFY. Foley as Herb Tarlek maybe?

We're the ONLY university to finish in the Top of the Directors Cup Ranking for the best all-around athletic department every year since it began. And we totally dominate the SEC All-Sports trophy, winning it virtually every year. Just because the football program has had a few down years due to bad coaching hires, doesn't negate the absolute success of the overall athletic department and the student/athletes who out in the time and effort to be successful in their sports. I understand that football is the money machine that drives it all, but UF is at the forefront of promoting and achieveing champions in ALL sports. And as a lifetime Gator, that makes me very proud.

Good one! You’re catching on nicely to how this board rolls. :giggle:

No one gives a flying fvkk about the badmitton and lawn darts teams and couldnt care less if we are fighting Stanford every year for a crown most people have never heard of in sports that no one watches.

There is only one sport that matters, only one sport that pays the bills. Your idol Folley was handed a team that dominated the SEC and tore it to pieces with a series of hire each more foolhardy than the last and a facilities operation that can best be described as slumlording.

Seriously, the folks that enjoy those sports don’t need you hijacking every one of them. Just don’t click on it, ass.

You are not far off, but the NCAA just passed a new rule the says no contact till their junior year. That should help with girls not developing like you anticipate, for instance Lugo was the #1 pitcher in the country as a 15 year old when Walton took her commitment, but stopped growing and was barely top 20 by her senior year.

I knew about the new no-contact rule but I can't figure how it's going to work. Soooo, these kids are not allowed to have any contact with schools until their junior year, and then like a whirling dervish, they're supposed to do all the components of recruiting in one year, and make a decision. Makes sense. Sounds like the NCAA. So much for building relationships; guess we can remove that as a recruiting excuse.

I'm sure you knew about the first one:

I hadn't heard about this one. She got in just under the wire.

There's lots of contact at softball camps and summer ball. I'd guess this applies to "official visits," etc.

I some how missed this.

My under standing is no contact means no contact. Leave it to the NCAA to go from one extreme to the other.

Don't know why Donkey is upset...we just spent 6 million on a football coach....
6 million is the going rate. Of course, it would have been nice to hire a championship coach instead or at least a coach with a winning conference record. I know my standards are high.

Our players still live in ghetto, block wall, 50 year old housing and our facilities are from the eighties.

I agree, I think this is great news. He's a great coach and it appears the girls love playing for him. No matter the sport, if you can secure a coach like this it's a great thing for your school. Go Gators!

6 million IS the going rate for a big time football coach. And if we want to have championship-caliber teams in other sports we have to pay the going rate for those coaches as well. The UAA generates a big time profit every year and we're fortunate that Gators can have it all - High academics, great football program and great all around athletic program. The football facilities were overdue for major upgrades that are being taken care of. But facilities upgrades of the O'Dome were needed as well and that was done. Upgrades to baseball and softball stadiums are needed and they are being handled, too. It's all good. No program has to suffer to make another one better. There's plenty of revenue to do it all for all of them. We're very fortunate.

Formally great football program... could make a come back but anyone that believes it’s currently even good is fooling themselves. We are way behind in a lot of areas.

Look on the bright side Donk...it’s not like our players’ living quarters were built with the already known intention of turning the complex into a federal penitentiary ala the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic athletic dorms.
