We all remember the legends. But who were the guys so awful they were legends in their own right?

Couple of rules.

1. The guy had to be a starter and best available player. So no starting because of injury guys. EG Skyler Morningweg

2. Go from the 80s on.

3. Explain why

Mine has to be Dee Webb. The guy was guaranteed to whiff at safety and worth 1 loss per year by himself.

So many OL, unfortunately. I remember when I thought we'd never see an OL worse than Halapio, and yet he'd probably be our best OL today.

Will Grier because he was the only starting QB in the history of the NCAA that I can recall getting popped for drugs.

so many OL

I was going to go with Kyle Jackson as well.

I think picking on safeties though is kind of cheating. We always remember the guy chasing the play, when often it wasn’t his missed assignment that led to the breakdown to begin with (though in KJ’s case I think it was probably true more often than not that it was his responsibility).

Going away from safeties, I’d pick Quinton Dunbar. Though in his defense, he was probably just playing the wrong position.

Brock Berlin and Cam Newton can suck a bag full, as well.

Could be so many based on certain criteria, but how can KJ not be #1 with a bullet.? The worst 5 star player I have ever seen in my life, regardless of position. Never made 1 positive play his entire Gator career. The worst route recognition safety ever. The worst safety at taking proper angles ever. The worst tackling safety ever. And we have had some awful safetys here in the last 30 years, but he was just awful in all facets.

Deshawn Wynn, are you kidding? Outside of a few fumbles that guy was a very good RB. Tackle breaking machine. he was just lazy off the field.

Thad Bullard was a highly regarded recruit who also was terrible.
Does Bobby Sabelhaus register? I doubt it b/c he was so bad he did not play. OK my bad he was not a starter but he was highly recruited.

OK def. KJ he was so bad as a true frosh they replaced him with a true frosh at the time named Tony Joiner. enough said.

See, now we’re getting into character, which changes things. Kyle Jackson is a really cool guy and solid human being. Meanwhile, we’ve got one in the can, another who’s on house arrest, and another who was serving life for murder.

Don’t get me wrong, KJ needed to be replaced, but I still think Bailey was worse.

What about McClendon? Fumble machine. Brantley? At least JD can say he helped win a few games with his legs.

I think a guy like Berlin truly checks all the boxes. All around scum.

Brantley?
How dare you slander the best QB of the decade. By a wide margin. Also the #2 best QB of the decade, by a wide margin.

Says a lot about the decade, doesn't it.

Does Bobby Sabelhaus register? I doubt it b/c he was so bad he did not play.
He should still get special mention for being the #1 rated QB and yet not being able to throw the ball far enough, somehow, to complete a screen pass to the wide side. smdh

Oh man Cory Bailey was bad, you are correct, but I don;t think he was KJ bad when on the field. he was more like Lester Norwood bad.

Of course it was. They moved first year Reggie Nelson from CB to safety just a few games into the season bc KJ was hitting around the Mendoza line at actually covering the correct player. He is by ALL ACCOUNTS are great kid and was a great practice player so they gave him the job again two years later, only to bench him 4 or 5 games into the season to replace him, thankfully, with another true freshman, true freshman Major Wright (who was actually more of a strong safety).

Yes, he was absolutely usually the one out of position. It's like the kid had no peripheral vision or something. I don't know.

Creyer like playing one high, so there really isn't much to it. Stay in centerfield and be deeper than the deepest man. He should have NEVER been fifteen yards behind the receiver, and he usually was.

It's hard to come up with his strength. I guess he seemed to block well on special teams.

Driskel is much the same way. Totally useless on any passing play due to his rolling out of the pocket habit no coach could fix and his immediate panic mode with his eyes on the line instead of downfield. Sofla mentioned his running ability and yet he needed to scramble four times to manage one positive run and was so completely incompetent at reading the option, by his own admission, that they took away his read and called give or keep before the play, rendering the plays ineffective. He was good at taking sacks and keeping the clock running. I guess that was a positive if you believe in Dwag ball.

Driskel's career highlight tape was that one pass he threw vs Tinerc and that one pass in spring practice in 2013 when he actually threw before the receiver broke on that deep out that they kept playing to show us that he had finally improved.

Ok Law, if you are going to allow Sabelhaus a special mention then I am going to go for a twofer and give a shout out to the top ranked WR who ran a 6.3 40 yard dash: Steve Shipp. My work is done here.

Another reason I'd prefer to stick with Florida kids. You show me an all state kid here, three star or not, and I'd rather take him, even if the camps don't like his measurables while wearing shorts and playing touch football. (ie Davis.)

Treon Harris...had good RBs and a good OL blocking for him, but was awful. Could not read defenses. Maybe the worst QB to ever start at UF.

Treon Harris...atrocious QB play.

Far better than Driskel. Light years better. Driskel had, what, five four turnover games?

The offense really took off for a while after he started until Chimp found a way to turn it off again.

Of course, Treon wasn't good . He couldnt throw an out but he had tossed a beautiful seam route. He would have been better running a true spread option type offense but he was never going to be able to make some of the throws.

This thread sucks too. Wish I hadn't posted.
