We can only hope his firing coincides with Mullen's so that we can officially embark on the 20-year plan.

So he's going to be successful because he brings in a lot of players off the street? Wow, why didn't the other 100+ coaches in the country think of that!

Could be they are constantly being harassed by star gazers or it could be they do not know this tradition. Frost does, he is from UNL and is smart to go back to what has help in the past at UNL. People who point out that UNL has more competition than when in the Big 8 and it was basically OU and no one else are correct. So he is not likely to break Bud Wilkinson's 47 wins in a row, but he certainly has a chance to be successful there.

Will be comparable to Sconnie, may go undefeated in the regular seasons when OSU and PSU are not on the schedule, but get whacked in the B10 CG.

I feel Frost will be successful in that he has an inate ability to relate to the players and inspire them to perform beyond their potential. Another coach who had this quality was Jimmy Johnson. JJ was not real popular with the alums/boosters, but his players would walk thru fire for him.

The cash helped, too.

Screw Frost! Not sure why this guy is still on everyone's mind. The guy is a mediocre, flash in the pan. He also allowed loyalty to lead him to career suicide. He'll NEVER win anything in Nebraska. Let's be real.

I think Frost is a good coach but as I said in an earlier post on here , he's NOT the right choice for the Gators!!!! He's not loyal to the univ or players and like a coach thats already done this to Fl by the name of Urban Myer I'm happy that it didn't work out for WHATEVER reason I believe that Mullins will be not only the coach we've needed but will be loyal to the univ , players and fans plus stick around for the long term

There will never be another alum HC, likely.

Unless you want Gene Chizik in three years.

Frost is where he needs to be . Like the Bear said when he went back to Bama. "Mama called"

We got who we wanted and with no high profile alumni loyalties that will draw him away. Unless of course the Ursinus Bears make Dan an offer he can't refuse. Not likely but you never know.

I think Frost will do well and he’ll pull kids from Florida and elsewhere. Osborn was able to take Nebraska to the next level when he started pulling kids from Florida (I.e.- Tommy Frazier) and elsewhere (the douchebag Peter brothers from NJ I believe) to complement the big corn fed homegrown guys playing in the trenches. He realized he needed to get more speed after getting whipped in the 80s by teams like Miami and that’s what he did. I don’t think Frost will have a problem recruiting, IMO.

Think he’s got a good chance to bring Nebraska into the upper tier of the Big 10. He’ll develop some competitive teams. Anyone discounting his coaching talent is fooling themselves - dude is legit.

That said, he better hope he stays successful. He’s NOT like SOS. Spurrier was a beloved son who had a long leash. Nebraska fans love Frost now but that was rarely the case in the past. From an Oct 2017 article by Omaha.com discussing reasons he doesn’t always view his time there positively:

“The hazing and physical pounding he faced from angry teammates when he transferred to Nebraska after having originally spurned the Huskers in favor of Stanford.

Finding himself trapped between Lawrence Phillips and his former girlfriend in an incident that made national headlines.

The threats and taunts that came after Frost quarterbacked the Huskers during a 1996 debacle in the desert that ended the Huskers’ 26-game win streak. And how the experience caused him to rediscover his religious faith.

The boos he faced from home fans after a 1997 game — ironically, against Central Florida — and his anger at Osborne for his role in helping to create the scene.

His determination at that point to play for his teammates and coaches, not giving “2 cents” for the fans.

And how the progression of his final season and that national championship trophy seemed to heal any lingering hard feelings — from both fans and Frost.”

Those old bitter feelings will surface as soon as things go poorly. He took a much bigger risk going there than anywhere else.

All this "we got our guy" talk is bs. He was 4th or 5h on the list maybe lower. Mullen was worst case scenario. Now that we hired him its" we got our guy" . No we didn't. We got another 8-4 shcitty recruiter that runs a boring offense. I can definitely understand why one would think frost will fail at Nebraska but that has nothing to do with mullen being "the guy "just because we hired him.

I’m at acceptance. It is what it is and ain’t changing anytime soon. Just have to hope the ceiling he hit at MSU was due to the school and not him.
That accurately sums up my feelings.
