I'll go in a completely different direction and say 2012 ULM. Had we not had that miracle finish and lost that game, Chump would have been exposed for what he was and never would have survived 2013. Had that happened, we could be getting ready for year 5 of the James Franklin era.

Yep. One of the ones I mentioned as well, though I incorrectly referenced La Lafayette. But that game likely had as much negative impact on our future as a critical loss.

The question as I understood it, was which “one” game outcome would you change. Not the entire Gator history that followed that particular game as we know it. I’ve read too many posters that seem to be rewriting Gator football history cause they changed the outcome of one of the games listed, and things may have very well changed from what we witnessed, but that wasn’t the question. I picked 95 Nebraska, seems pretty simple to me, adds a natty title and a perfect season to our football program as we know it. Now if we were asked what kind of effect that changed game would have on Gator history, I would’ve probably went in a different direction. I believe it was after the Nebraska debacle that Spurrier flirted with the NFL (Buccaneers), if we win that title, maybe he does go try the NFL earlier in his coaching career and who knows who would’ve ended up being our coach from the mid-90’s on. Luckily that did happen. The thread question is simple, don’t outthink it. Lol

Agreed. Another game where I've often heard an unrealistic path is the 2012 UGA game. We lost 17-9. We win, we go to the SECCG....and likely get our asses kicked. Also, w/ that same game...often people say, "If Jordan Reed scores we win....." No, we are still down 17-15 and need to convert a 2-point conversion w/ a super sh*tty offense.

Just to get to a tied score and a shot in OT, assuming they don't score themselves.

That was 2012 team was way closer to 8-4 than 12-0 regardless of what the W/L columns says.

2012 was a championship defense and a Offense/Special Teams that did more just not to fck up... then actually score.

Probably. Though, when you think about the impact of the suspensions and a few key injuries last year, one could conclude that despite still being a horrifically bad team, they might have been slightly less horrifically bad had those incidents not occurred, perhaps even reversing one of the more closely contested losses.

I don't know. Just may be worth discussing.

Maybe. The fact is that a team that goes 4-7, even in the SEC, is a bad bad team. And still IMO we were lucky to have a record that good. We were worse than our record. Sorry for the hijack.

Fooley was NEVER going to fire him in 2013. Never.

He was convinced that his boy Zooker got fired to soon and CUM (and OBC) only won bc of Zooker and Zooker would have won championships too if given more time. Fooley Parrots still spout this.

Im honestly a bit shocked he got fired in 2014 and that Folley didnt give him a going away BJ on stage when they were announcing the firing.

As much as he loved Zooker he seemed to love Chimp even more.

Good point. I still say the 80 UGly game.

You mean about the thread with the suspensions causing our woes last year? Yeah I got that. I just wanted to say yet again how bad we sucked.

Or, you know, the guy who took a relatively low-key athletic program and turned it into a cash cow powerhouse that’s now a national brand.

SOS built us into a national brand.
Foley did not hire SOS, Ben Hill Griffin TOLD him to and he did what he was told.

The only credit I give Foley regarding SOS is that Foley did help to run him off. Foley left SOS hanging during the whole Earnest Graham situation with FSU which was the point at which SOS started to believe that he had overstayed his welcome.

Foley built a fine lacrosse program though, I will give him credit for that.

And made our football program irrelevant by hiring two of the worst CFB coaches in history back to back and neglecting our facilities to the point where we're having to beat out Houston-Baptist for a 2 star QB and having to fill our roster with desperation 3 stars, although that had more to do with Butters ineptitude when it came to recruiting.

The easiest answer of all time. 95 Nebraska. Its the only one that guarantees a national title. Why choose 09 Bama when we could still lose to Texas? Why 01 UT when we could still lose to Miami? I get possibly that game because if we win Rex probably gets the heisman, but thats still all hypothetical.

We would have also had to win the SECCG in '01 before even getting a chance at Miami. In '09 we beat Texas, though, no doubt about it.

Still hypothetical, and Mccoy probably plays the whole game. And our team was worn out by Bama, so I’m still torn there. Ill still take a victory over the greatest team of all time, and giving Danny two titles.
