Well technically he quit Florida.
So Emmitt Smith is a quitter? Take his name of the Stadium wall? He didnt quit playing football and that is what
Barry did in his prime. Emmitt even played on after cowboy fame. He didnt hurt Fla by leaving and had a sh#T load of carries in his three years. My vote still stands..........

You’re putting words in my mouth.
We are debating giving him a statue at UF that he left early. He doesn’t even have the best stats of a UF running back.
Should we give Percy one ? He was arguably the best athlete to ever be at UF.
Spikes ? Morrison ? Some of the best LBs.
Sablehaus ? Best back upQB ?

Jesus. Hey have the ring of honor for everyone other than the Heisman winners.

Let’s just start a “participation alley ” we can honor everyone who ever played.

Emmitt did a little more than "participate. Did you ever seem him play on Fla Field. He was absolutely magic sometimes. He found running room when there was none. You think our QBs have been bad the last decade. Think as bad or worse when Emmitt played. He was all we had and he was incredible. Participation trophy............SMFH............

You’re doing what you always accuse others of doing. Parsing words.
Yes I saw him play. He was Amazing.
And you’ve dodged the rest of my post. Was Percy any less amazing ?
Was spikes ? Was Nelson ? Was Oliver when he was killing some poor WR ?
He is already in the ROH. When you start changing the criteria you can make an argument for 100 players that have come through that need a statue.

Like it or not Young black men need roll models that are black if you don't understand that you probably voted forTrump. Im just saying it would be a positive in recruiting, and since 75 percent of our player are black I can't see and negative in having more visible black role models.

Are you serious with this? Yes, young black males need role models, so go talk to the black community; putting up a statue of Emmitt accomplishes nothing in that regard. I loved watching Emmitt play and will forever be grateful for his time at UF, but, other than being SEC player of the year and an All-American, he didn't win anything. Hell, he never even beat the Dwags!! **** Georgia! His contributions have been honored by UF in multiple ways including being one of the five players in the ring of honor, something that 90,000 fans see every game and that 75% of our apparently young, role-model-ess, players see at every game and every practice on that field. I love the guy (Georgia hat picture notwithstanding), so proud of him, but a statue? No.

Think about it, boss. They each made a tactical decision about no longer playing for whom they played.

Errict Rhett is still our leading rusher, right? He didnt stomp away bc we switched coaches.

No one who cares more about NFL gets any recognition IMO. I dont care how distinguished your nfl career was either. Cowboys can give you a statue if they want.

Rhett also wasnt photographed wearing Dwag gear.

I think you are being sarcastic, but Morrison isnt in the top 50 of best LBs.

I note Sabelhaus was your next sentence so maybe younwere joking.

It is a gdmmm shame on a gator board I have to argue about the greatness of Emmitt fckn Smith the ALL TIME LEADING RUSHER IN THE NFL and the greatest RB in gator history and get so much kickback. .....And if we give him too much recognition there a 100 other gator greats that get it, too. Uh NO!! Emmitt is the only gator that didnt play QB you call by his FIRST name......he is that iconic. Percy was great but did you see Wes Chandler. His pro career was very good too. Emmitt came to Fla and gave us as many years as many other stars. Did he have rings and hardware? No but that mofo gave us something we had never seen on Fla field. A RB for the ages.........and the NFL saw it too. And btw his character was and is above reproach. He could have gone anywhere out of HS and at programs not nearly as down as us but he came here. I never saw a RB on Fla field that was as exciting to watch.

Jeez, Coach, get a hold of yourself. We all love Emmitt. We're just trying to have a level-headed and objective sports debate.

He can’t be level headed. All the kids in his PE class get a ribbon.

Seriously. He said it himself. He was the greatest NFL rusher of all time.

When you brought up parsing words I knew this was carry over from the PF..........Even Ox and I agree on lots of gator stuff. Hell, he probably agree with us on Emmitt but is just laying low..........We will just disagree about Emmitt. I have no problem there..........and trust me on this,.,all the kids in my PE class dont get ribbons. They earned my praise or whatever I gave them.

He's in the Ring of Honor, so his name and number will always be on that stadium. Is that not enough recognition?

This is fun. Stay with me. Emmitt averaged 5.6 yards per carry at UF. Eric averaged 4.8 in the SOS offense so they never really knew when was coming. The def, ALWAYS knew Emmitt was our offense. Emmit had almost 4000 yards rushing in 3 years, Eric had just over 4000 in 4 years. Emmitt is #1 and #2 in best season rushing yardage and and the top two games rushing (one is over 200 yards AT BAMA they didnt know what hit them). He is behind only Timmy in career TDs and best Season in TDs. To be fair Timmy got a lot more touches near the goal line and they had to play the pass against him, too. In the top six rushing games over 100 years of gator football Emmitt has three of them.
Dont get me wrong. I LOVED ERIC Rhett, Ranks up there with other great ones. Great work ethic and just a super gator. Got fckdd at Tampa Bay with his agent making him hold out. Emmitt in a very tough SEC averaged almost 6 yards a carry his freshman year. That is amazing.
btw Herschel only averaged 5.3 yards per carry his career for the dwags.........

All of the statues are Heisman winning qb's (obviously). So if you want to change the criteria, how about a statue for a defensive player? Wilbur Marshall for example.
