My dear friend, who I consider a brother, has a Red 2006 (Generation 3) Viper convertible with only 6000 miles on it. It was always his dream car and he picked it up DIRT cheap on salvage title with 2500 miles on it. Some middle eastern prince bought it new in Cali, drove it to Miami, and then accidentally put it up on a curb at the end of his journey. My buddy, of course, had several experts look at it and nobody could figure out why it was considered a salvage. Basically the only damage was a crack front fender, which was easily replaced.

There is nothing comfortable about driving this car, but it sure is sexy. 8.3L V10 with 510 HP.

Looks like this one. He drove it to Phan's tailgate one year.

I just caught myself watching this entire video. It's such a strange car, and I'm fascinated by the engineering - this is one of those cars I remember when I first got into cars in 1986 as a 10 year old. I've never seen what the interior is like, so I just kept watching.

Oh, brother, is this car British quirky even if it is already an Aston. I think the only logical explanation for this phenomenon is the Maybach. This was AM's 1980s answer to the Maybach. Very cool car.

Here is my first car. Not really, it was my parent's car but I drove it. What we have here ladies and gentlemen is a 1980 VW Rabbit Diesel.

1.5 liters of German bad-assery, making a whopping 48 horsepower and a mind-boggling 42mpg. All of that power is sent to the ground via a 5 speed manual transmission that shifts like a red hot knife through warm butter. Able to accelerate from zero to 60mph in less than a single day.

When I turned 15 my dad was on a six-month Navy cruise so my mom taught me how to drive it. I took my drivers test in this car, and then two years later I wrecked it on the last day of school of my senior year. Sideswiped some crazy lady on the Shands bridge in Green Cove Springs on the way to St. Augustine beach. She didn't want to stick around for the cops for some reason, so she wrote her phone number on a blank check and hauled ass somewhere. I never heard what happened to her.

As a side note, the Shands Bridge is in EXACTLY the same condition as when your little wreck happened. That thing is a death trap.

I always tell my ‘78 (Che)Vette story! ;) It was our Captain Americamobile... white exterior, red interior, blue carpet. But it had a cassette deck! My little brother had the best Vette stories.
My first thought was that a (Cor)vette is a helluva car to have for your first. A (Che)vette is more what I would expect.

They are adding a new outer Jax loop from I10 to 195. The section from I10, through the old Cecil Field area to Blanding is essentially complete. They are building a brand new Shands bridge (2023-2030) just on the south side of this one. Then lopping off the middle part of the current Shands bridge and turning it into a 2 fishing piers.

When I was 15, I had an older friend who had a 1953 Corvette convertible just like this one.
p0135437.jpg

He was dating my sister's friend who was living with us while finishing high school. Her parents had already moved. He would take her to the movies then drop her off. I was banging her after my mom and sis went to bed and he didn't know. Arnold thought I was cool for a young punk and we buy me beer and we would ride around in that thing.
It was a six cylinder with a 2 speed Powerglide transmission. This thread made me think of it. Here's some background on the Blue Flame Special.

My first ride was my mom's 1963 1/2 2-dr Ford Galaxy 390 4 bbl carb . Burgundy exterior with black leatherette interior. That car was truly badass till I wrapped it around a telephone pole one night over off Stockton Avenue. This one pictured may be a 427, the 390 and 427 both had a checkered flag badges.

My first car I bought was a 1956 Chevy Bel Air 6 cyl that I promptly blew up. I bought a newly rebuilt 283 short block with a mild hydraulic cam from a guy and sent it to a mechanic to finish. He tore it down and installed a 30/30 Duntov solid lifter cam and a pair of 327 PowerPack heads on it. I had gotten a lot of traffic tickets and wound up selling the car and motor without ever driving it to pay my fines. I also bought a 57 but sold the body without engine.

My step dad later gave me his old 1953 Mercury flathead six banger with 3 on the tree. The Merc would get good rubber in 2nd gear. I drove that for a few years before buying a sweet 2 dr 64 Valiant 273. That model looked just like the Barracuda minus the large back glass. I won a $2 trophy racing that car at Thunderbolt Raceway 1/4 mile strip off Pecan Park Rd. It ran in N/Stock class. Mine was burgundy.

The '53 Vette body style was way ahead of its time. Thanks for sharing the pics, Coot.

Not worth the 13,500 in my opinion,
Obviously 5 speed Shelby anything is worth more than a family sedan.

I will agree it isnt worth 13500, or even half that, which is why it is for sale not for sold.

Maybe there is someone somewhere who wants an 80s Dodge, but I will say Ive been to a bunch of car shows and never seen any interest. Hell there isnt much interest in 80s domestic anything.

Who knows. There are some oddities out there, like 80s models VW Vans selling for 20-80k, but just not Chrysler demand Ive seen.

Good luck w restoring that Lebaron.

Coming later this Summer or Fall.....
Now the only question is if anyone here is interested in buying a 2009 version with 17K miles, lightly used, always well maintained and never driven hard...

I'll bet Carroll Shelby wishes he never stuck his nose into the Dodge business. He had more to lose than gain.

Travel shotgun inside a Porsche 918 Spyder as it gets a trolled by a 277-mph Koenigsegg Agera RS on a highway. Crazy video.
