I guess I want Spurrier's philosophy of not what you claim is the Meyer/Muschamp philosophy. Spurrier's philosophy in case you do not remember is that you first must be able to run the ball and stop the run. You have to put offensive pressure on opponents particularly opponents you are better than.

Players who have success believe. Football is a tough game and if you are not successful as a team it is hard to believe.
Describe how successful we were in 2004.

As successful as Mullinz has ever been and likely ever will be.

And Zook beat the piss out of directional schools. Mullinz loses to them. It's sad you would compare the two. Such an insult to Zook.

You know I hate Zook, but between the two it is no competition.

Love you, bro, but there's so much wrong in that post.

In case you weren't paying attention, it was Urban Meyer's philosophy as well.
Yeah, Urban Meyer's. That is key. And when he arrived he already had a track record of doing it. He had good defenses and great STs at Utah and BG.

Mullinz has done neither in his history. Mediocre defense and terrible STs are what is on the resume. Keep dreaming that we re-signed Creyer though.

Oh yeah, Creyer went out and signed the best recruiters he could find, almost exclusively the best recruiter on the staffs from which he cherry picked them. Holliday, mostly from UWVaMN, one of the absolute best recruiters, Strong from UFLAG, Daz from UIN, Mattison from UMIAR, Drayton from UMSSt, all great recruiters first and only Drayton had any prior Meyer connection (1 year).

We have no one on this staff of that caliber. Meyer knew he needed great recruiters.

Well, I do have to hand it to you. You wisely pointed out that our best move was not to hire Mullen but rather to promote one of the esteemed assistants to a perpetually temporary perch, one we'll just call interperm for simplicity's sake.

How's that South Florida recruiting coming along?

This thread is way off track. Donkey is one of my favorite members of this board. He has a point. But we haven't seen what Mullen will do yet. You can't say definitively either way if he'll be successful or if he'll be another failure. It is funny to see some posters backing Mullen like he's going to be great here. I really hope he will be. I like what he's done so far except the lackluster recruiting. That definitely has to get better really soon. We're falling behind Uga every day that we don't get better. I really think we are about even with them talent-wise. But there is a gap that's going to get bigger if we don't close it soon.

Trust me, Donkey has made his point so many times he's dug a hole to China. Maybe it's time we see if Mullen has a counter in him. After all, he's still unbeaten as head football coach at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida, United States, North America, Earth, Solar System.

That's UFGLACFLUSNAESS to Insti.

Wait until Instigator gets a hold of that acronym.
At the risk of sounding like a putz (which means I'm about to), it's technically not an acronym unless the letters together can be pronounced as a word. That abbreviation sounds more like Law trying to talk to his wife after his third Coors Light.

It's coming along as well as all the other Florida recruiting. And all the non-Florida recruiting.

But yes, if McElstain or Mullinz is the only option, then we should just wait til next year.

You know that would have never flown with anyone -- fans, boosters, alumni, media, you name it. Chasing Kelly was in retrospect the worst thing that could have happened. It took our eyes off the prize.

We will see how well bringing home a 2-17 coach flies.

Like most things associated with UF football over the last 5 or 6 years I'm indifferent to the Mullen hire. No more crying and griping... just the same old watching and waiting. Some said above that we took our eyes off the prize by chasing Kelly.....The only way I see that as being true is if we've come to a place where 2nd or 3rd prize is who we are. Please wake me when that changes. I sure do miss the feeling of being nervous, anxious and excited before every game....hell any game at this point.

Dan's here so I'll wait before I crucify him but he is on the clock. This season is NOT a throwaway season in my book. Now I'm not expecting any titles but I want to see guys that look like they are being coached, much improvement in execution(offense)…..and for the love of God we better not get walked out of the stadium by ANYONE in our division like Mizzou or USCe...unacceptable.

No more excuses about recruiting either. Doesn't have to land a half dozen 5 stars but he's better damned well win over a bunch of in state 4 stars and get at least 2 "difference maker" type players.....Dan, you're on the clock and anyone who disagrees isn't in touch with modern big boy CFB.
