For the "we are doing just fine people" here is the article with all your excuses on a platter

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/f...low-recruiting-start-and-why-its-complicated/

Didn't learn much of anything from that article that hasn't been discussed here in depth. In fact, I think it would be pretty easy to be a writer for these sites. All you need to do is mine the message boards and you've got most of your material.

While some points are valid many are not. They consistently keep referring Mullen to the position Dabo Swinney was in when he went to coach Clemson. But Dabo wasn't a known name, he recruited a much smaller state and he was never a head coach. And they misrepresent just how badly we are doing in the state of Florida.

I hope Mullen starts gaining some traction in recruiting pretty soon. The window to do so before you get a reputation as a perennial recruiting-also-ran in the minds of kids these days is very small.

It's world cup season....who cares about HS kids months away from being useful in any way. Maybe we'll consider them after the WC Finals.

Every chance we get at OSU leans our recruiters should emphasize that their scholarship package includes a snowblower ... plus a huge snow-shovel for quiet times.

Some of our players got a bump in the updated 247 rankings. Interestingly, Trey Sanders dropped from #6 overall to #15 - could be a good sign (as they wouldn't dare drop an Alabama commit, would they?):

UF targets in the updated Top247

https://247sports.com/college/flori...e-updated-2019-recruiting-rankings-119751148/

247Sports released an updated Top247 for the 2019 recruiting class on Thursday. The Florida Gators had two commitments make the latest ranking. Lawrenceville (Ga.) Mountain View defensive tackle Jaelin Humphries at No. 219 and Roswell (Ga.) linebacker Tyron Hopper at No. 243, who saw his grade improve from 90 to 91, are the two UF pledges in the Top247.

Several targets of the Gators remain throughout the updated Top247. One of the players at the top is Thousand Oaks (Calif.) Oaks Christian five-star defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux, who moved up from No. 5 to No. 3 overall.

Shuffling back a bit, but still keeping his five-star status is Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy running back Trey Sanders, who moved from No. 6 to No. 15 in the nation. The highest ranked four-star recruit by 247Sports is Miami (Fla.) Southridge defensive back Tyrique Stevenson who checks in at No. 19 overall.

Forest (Miss.) linebacker Diwun Black, an Ole Miss commit Florida is trying to flip, saw his grade improve from 95 to 97, which bumped his overall ranking from No. 56 to No. 22. Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive tackle Evan Neal is another that saw his grade improve, going from 95 to 96, which also moved him from No. 49 in the nation to No. 30 overall in the 2019 recruiting class.

Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic safety Nick Cross fell back a few spots from No. 21 to No. 32 overall.

Three targets in particular made rather big jumps up the rankings with Auburn (Ala.) linebacker Mohamoud Diabate going from No. 81 to No. 56 overall, Austin (Texas) Bowie wide receiver Elijah Higgins climbing from No. 88 to No. 57 in the nation, and Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons defensive end Khris Bogle jumping from No. 123 to No. 59 in the class.

Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Benjamin School cornerback Kaiir Elam slid back a few spots from No. 58 to No. 67 overall, while Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne offensive tackle Jonah Tauanu’u rose from No. 102 to No. 73 in the nation. Calabasas (Calif.) wide receiver Mycah Pittman checks in at No. 74.

Madison (Ala.) Bob Jones cornerback Jaydon Hill is another that climbed the ranking going from No. 135 to No. 113 overall. Gulfport (Miss.) defensive end Derick Hall ranks No. 119 and Lakeland (Fla.) tight end Keon Zipperer stays at No. 124.

Florida is trying to flip Florida State commit Quashon Fuller of Lehigh Acres (Fla.) Lehigh Senior and the defensive lineman moved up from No. 207 to No. 182 in the nation.

Hoganville (Ga.) Callaway offensive guard Keiondre Jones slid from No. 189 to No. 207, while Oakley (Calif.) Freedom all-purpose back Giles Jackson went from three-stars to No. 208 in the nation. Falling out of the Top247 was Auburndale (Fla.) defensive end Lloyd Summerall, who was previously ranked No. 169 overall.

I love how 247 raises and drops kids every month. So stupid.

Just click bait.
