It's time for Pick 'Em! The rules are simple. Every week, you'll be picking the winners for all the SEC games, and other random games from around the country for a total of 20 games. The picks will not be straight up, but will be made against the spread. For those who have no freaking clue how the spread works, it will be explained further as we get closer to the season.

Each correct pick will be a point, and points standings will be kept throughout the season. At the end of the season (which will run through the NC game), the member with the most points will win the grand prize: a 45 to 55 inch LED Smart TV (details to follow at a later date). How to play is as follows:

Hit the "Pick Em" tab. You'll see a button showing "Available Pools" - click it.

Then click "Join Pool".

Now that you've joined the pool, you'll need to manage your picks. It's part of the tab dropdown.

The weekly picks will now appear on your screen. This will show the point spreads and percentage bars representing the picks that have already been made by others. For you to make your own picks, you'll need to click the blue "Make Your Picks" button.

At this point you'll be able to make your picks, and save them at the bottom.

After your picks are made and saved, the team you chose will show up in bold, as well as a check mark on the far right.

And that's how you make your picks. The system will be sending out reminders so you don't forget to make your picks. You can make changes to your picks at any time up until they lock before the games.

If you want to have a real shot at winning the grand prize, you aren't going to be able to miss weeks. The standings and some other information will be shown in the sidebar throughout the season.

Discuss.

REMEMBER: You are picking against the spread. The team with the (-X.X) next to them is the favorite by that many points. For example, Alabama is favored 25.5 points over Louisville. If you pick Alabama, you are picking them to win by at least 26 points. If you take Alabama and they win by 25 or less, you lose.

Week 1 games are as follows:

SEC
Northwestern State Demons @ Texas A&M Aggies (-39.5)
Louisville Cardinals @ Alabama Crimson Tide (-25.5)
Eastern Illinois Panthers @ Arkansas Razorbacks (-35.5)
Washington Huskies @ Auburn Tigers (-3.5)
Charleston Southern Buccaneers @ Florida Gators (-29.5)
Austin Peay Governors @ Georgia Bulldogs (-44.5)
Central Michigan Chippewas @ Kentucky Wildcats (-17.5)
Miami Hurricanes (-2.5) @ Louisiana State Tigers
Ole Miss Rebels @ Texas Tech Red Raiders (Pick 'Em)
Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks @ Mississippi State Bulldogs (-39.5)
UT Martin Skyhawks @ Missouri Tigers (-39.5)
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers @ South Carolina Gamecocks (-29.5)
Tennessee Volunteers @ West Virginia Mountaineers (-9.5)
Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders @ Vanderbilt Commodores (-6.5)

NON-SEC
Florida Atlantic Owls @ Oklahoma Sooners (-20.5)
Michigan Wolverines (-1.5) @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Virginia Tech Hokies @ Florida State Seminoles (-5.5)
Texas Longhorns (-9.5) @ Maryland Terrapins
Akron Zips @ Nebraska Cornhuskers (-21.5)
Cincinnati Bearcats @ UCLA Bruins (-16.5)

Can UF win by 30? It's really tough.

Picking against the spread is really damn hard.

By the way, these spreads will not change here no matter how much they change in Vegas over the next six weeks. These are the spreads for week 1.

The helmet logos have been changed to the actual logos, which makes them easier to see.

There will be end-of-year prizes for at least the Top 5, and weekly winners get 500 Oxbucks. Remember to answer the weekly tiebreaker question at the bottom of your picks!

So in other words it would be stupid you make your picks now.

No, because you can change them right up to game time. Make a baseline bunch of picks and then review them later.

Face it, you made this whole thing just so you can make it seem like its almost football season.

I did it early because I want people to play around with it and get familiar with the system. Obviously after Week 1, people are going to have 6 days to make picks and not 6 weeks.

Haven't been around lately. Been busy and gone with work among getting ready to retire from the military. Glad I stopped by to see the pick em.

Ox - you said the spreads won't change once you set them. No matter how much the spread changes? I've seen spreads change as much as 15-20 pts within a week.

That's correct. I'll set them near the beginning of the week and keep them there. Damien, this is hard enough without me fluctuating the spreads on top of it. I want it tough, not impossible.

Good. I also play the Yahoo Pick em and they are changing the spread daily. SO I usually wait until Sat morning to make my picks after their spreads are finalized Fri nights.
