Run heavy and the same offense at MSU would be an upgrade...fact is the defenses he faced week in and out might have skewed the rankings. And what he did with Zooks players were a vast improvement as well. But yea or nay on the fact you like the offense? Good points and bad. Discuss

He has to adapt to different players and mold the offense around them. We are stacked at RB and WR so we will run a lot depending on how the O-line holds up. Also how will the O-line pass protect the QB to give them time to throw? Run heavy means that will open up the play action pass and/or quick throws so we will see how it works out. Mullen had a ton of success here years ago but again its all different personnel now. Gotta give it time to marinate and see how we do. Go Gators!!

In my opinion, Mullen's style of offense is ideal for college football, as it emphasizes creating matchups for strong players. In college football, the skill gap between players is more varied than in the NFL where everyone is more evenly matched across teams.

My only concern is that a lot of bluechips who want to play in the NFL, want to play pro-style. But you can't play good pro-style unless all of your players are NFL caliber and can execute consistently i.e. Alabama, maybe UGA, and definitely not us under Mac.

Really? What were our offensive numbers in 2004 vs 2005?

Did you watch football back then?

He "improved us" from 426 yards a game in 2004 to 373 yards a game in 2005? Solid work.

Or most of 2006 when the headlines were "whats wrong w Gators offense?"

Our defense and STs got MUCH better from 2004 to 2005, though.

Mullen's system works good when you have the QB and top players to run it. It seems to get crushed most times when his team is outgunned in talent thus his 3-34 record against final AP Top 25 teams.

We may have some good RBs but with Franks at QB and the O line being probably average at best this year for an SEC line I don't see this offense doing a whole lot against the good defenses.

Pumping some sunshine into your first paragraph, that statistic could be a good thing. It shows consistency of performance in relation to on field talent. Here at Florida, he might have what he needs to beat more people.

The wins not the numbers...I’m talking more than numbers

Not sure this year. Heck I would say Miss State this year just because of the different QBs still has a way better chance to produce with this type of offense than we do. That could change a lot if Jones turns out to be the real deal next year however.

I'm higher on Jalon Jones as being our savior than Emory. The guy is just a freaky athlete. He moves like Lamar Jackson.

Will JJ still come here if Hurts transfers to UF though? We would be Stacked at the QB position if he stays...

I'd say, at best, we're 2-3 years out from seeing Jalon take any meaningful snaps during games. Who wants to wait that long?

Fact is time of possession with a dink and dunk run heavy offense is the best way a championship prototype team wins...that’s why Big12 teams and chip Kelly Oregon fizzle out against a good offense with a higher caliber defense...and you can look at any team and give me a table or list or any other type of schematic but the fact is Brady and Bama doesn’t win or light up the scoreboard with a long ball heavy offense...it’s a run heavy TOP ball control scheme
