Sorry everyone, I've been WAY more busy this week than I have in a long time. I will get my takes on college football scheduling at a later date. Enough has been written about this streak. From the first SEC title clinch in '91 to the first ever Eastern Division of SEC game in '92 to Doering's got a TD in '93 to a Jack Jackson punt return that he ran 80 yards to gain like 30 in '94 (one of my young memories) to Derek Abney's TD's in '02 to the insane comeback in '03 to that '07 game where Andre Woodson somehow didn't lead UK to a win in an insane environment against a young defense or the '09 game where Tebow got knocked out or Burton's 6 TD's in '10 or the play clock running out in '14 (AS IF THERE WOULDN"T HAVE BEEN ANOTHER PLAY, BECAUSE DELAY OF GAME ENDS THE GAME IN OVERTIME:headslap:) to Will Grier throwing for 495 yards in '15 (J/K that game was 14-9 and he through for less than 10 yards per attempt and the revisionist history like he would be doing what he is now at WVU with Nuss in Gainesville is a joke that goes against any and all evidence of what actually happened) to LDR looking good in '16 to the joke that was Kentucky not beating UF with the perfect set up in '17. Yes, the majority of that was off my head.

*Any commentary on Grier is a comment on the poor nature of Nuss and Mac and not on an obviously talented QB.

Anyways, I have a weird feeling going into this game. Last year was the year for Kentucky had the stars aligned, and yet, I am nervous this year. I know Snell is a good back, the QB's have never experienced anything like the Swamp at night, and that they struggled against a middling Central Michigan team.

Predictions
Franks throwing for around 225. We forced the pass last week. I think he throws a pick, same fans will want any QB benched for a pick. Would have never wanted to see a young QB to ever play again after throwing 4 picks in a game against UK in 1993. Just some perspective before yelling about benching after a single pick.

Our line played poor. I think our line plays better because they are acknowledging their failures and I believe Hevesy will force improvement (dominance won't come immediately), a less vanilla scheme, and more respect for our passing game.

Running game does hit that 200 yard mark for reasons listed above.

Receiving, I don't think 10 different people catch passes, but it will be 5 or more. I think we see plenty of YAC.

Defense holds Kentucky to under 300 yards. The attacking style of Grantham will put plenty of pressure on an offense that fumbled 5 times last week and gave up 4 turnovers. On SDS, the UK writer says we should be concerned for allowing 200+ yds rushing last week. Nowhere does he mention the triple option we faced, garbage time yards, CeCe, Ancrum, Campbell, and Reese missing the game. Didn't seem to mention the passing yards we allowed.

AND the Swamp will be alive. This game is bigger than last week. More people will be there. More people are believing. Many students went home for the weekend last week and are returning this week and are planning to be wild.

Traditional Blue top/white bottom combo...cool. Still waiting for the Orange top/Blue bottom combo (see Malik Davis recruiting photos for how good it looks). And before someone wants to say that we've done it...people have stepped up and been smacked down, but maybe there's some 80's game I'm not aware of. I say this because of the inevitability of us getting something crazy through Jordan. Just search the ridiculous amount of #failstate stuff from Mullen's tenure.

I can't wait until after the game when we know a lot more about the team and get a bearing on what we have.

I also have a weird feeling but it might be the Sushi I picked up at Circle K!

I think UK is improved but we are playing at home. I think the home field and we actually have more depth than the Cat's will turn the trick.

In other words, it's not the X's and O's but the Jimmy's and Joe's that win this one.

Muskank is gone but many people here still have Muskthink. So many people with the "just don't throw an INT and maybe we can squeak out a 13-10 win".

If he throws 4 TDS IDGAF if he throws 4 ints. They are just shanked punts anyway. Kintucky won't score if we give them the ball on the 30. Their QB is trash... like most SEC QBs.

I wish we'd just get back to playing offense again and not be afraid of even trying.

I have a weird feeling too. Perhaps it's a feeling that we have finally something worth watching. That damn sure has been strange for a long time.

I think its mostly on that KY QB if they can keep the game close or not. If they still had last year's QB I would say they might hang with us for a while but if this new QB plays at all like he did against Central Michigan this game may get very ugly for KY. I think they had like 16 starters return so this is close to the same team they had last year except at QB.

I'm being cautiously optimistic, which is weird for me, the guy who without prompting began a three part thread about how the potential for 10 wins is there.

I guess I could put it this way, I wouldn't be shocked if USCe beats UGA, but I also wouldn't be shocked if UGA wins by 50 either. In this case, I wouldn't be shocked if somehow we didn't go off today and won, but I could see us, especially with Toney's return (forgot to mention this in the OP) where we go off and with by 20+.

Muskank is gone but many people here still have Muskthink. So many people with the "just don't throw an INT and maybe we can squeak out a 13-10 win".

Yep. Turnovers mean a hell of a lot less if you have an offense that can move the ball at will. I think our corners are more than capable of handling UK's passing game. I think our D-line causes issues, much less when we blitz. I think we learn more about our safeties tonight.

I think we load the box and force UK's turnover prone QB to beat us through the air which I just don't think he can do. I think we will easily handle Kentucky but my only concern would be if somehow UK has a big play and then a big turnover and jumped out to a 14-0 lead on us. We have no idea how this offense (particularly Franks) will handle adversity. I'm glad you brought up Toney, almost nobody mentioned his absence after game 1. I fully expect Mullen to get him the ball in space and I would be shocked if we don't see him in the wildcat this evening. I'm just glad that we finally have a coach that recognizes who our playmakers are and will design a game plan to get them the ball.

I think it was a writer at the Country who made a similar point about Mac saying the team needed to do this rather than starting from doing it.

I don't know enough to have detail on why I think as I do. I think this coach, staff, and team are going to put their foot on Ky's neck and hold them down most of the game. They will I expect have a killer's instinct.

I saw coach changing the play a the line of scrimmage, coaching his players (esp the QB) during the game, and things I never saw with the previous group.

I am having goose bumps just writing this in anticipation of a well played game by the Gators, the result will be great.

I could be disappointed, but I and all real Gator fans hope that I will not be.

Gators 41 Ky 10 or maybe 9

But we do not know how UK handles success against UF in football. What will be running through their head is, "don't blow this now," "don't make a big mistake," "I better be careful," "we don't really deserve to be ahead," "boy if we blow this, it is going to be bad," etc etc. This kind of start is part of why it is good to get into another team's heads season after season.

We do know how they handle success against Florida. They leave WR's wide open....
