Just to keep the fire stoked, how do some of you know Kentucky is terrible or even an average team?

No he won't. He's the coach, not Chimp, Not Butters, and it will be obvious after the third year he will never get the job done.
If thats the case Our New football complex will be ready just in time for the new Coach.

I doubt it. Theyve been talking about it since 2010. No reason they cant just keep putting it off. Falling revenue will be the ezcuse this time. Ticket and merchandise sales and donations were already well below 2017 and next year will be catastrophically down.

I doubt that changes until people believe we will have real dedication to revuilding football. The fifty million dollar baseball shell game wont help a bit.

2010? Really? Chump begged for one, but no serious discussion or drawings materialized until Mac showed up. I hate the delay with the baseball stadium, but I agree we need more real estate to build a proper football complex (mac’s plan sucked). I would’ve moved Track & Field, though.

Well, they promised the basketball facility to Billy in 2000 or so. Then they put it of to do that tiny upgrade in Heavener for Urban. He wanted the whole shebang like Saban, and got laughed at. Remember when he left and talked about one of the reasons was "the state of college football" which everyone said was a reference to Bammer? Particularly it was Bammer getting incredible advantages that UF would provide.... and which he demanded OSU to do.

Anyway, finally after Leyer left, we were promised a football facility, but after Billy left we decided basketball must come first. Now baseball must come first.

Whatever.

I will believe it when I see it and I still expect it to look more like that two story shipping container with windows I saw in Fooley's first draft.

Does Grantham come from his coaching tree?
I don't know, he doesn't stay anywhere for long. He was at Vatech under Beamer of course, then MOra and the Colts for two years, Saban as DL coach for a few years, Colts with Mora, Houston with Capers, first DC job was Cleveland with Romeo Kernel, back to DL with Cowboys, then Ugly as DC, Loovulle, Cowbell and us.

I finally looked at my weekly picks an laughed. I actually thought we would cover the point spread. Makes the lost even worse. Someone pour me some more black coffee and hand me a BC powder.

I said in another post to you that our program was on their level, unfortunately. Then I see this stupid t shirt. Major difference: they’re still stuck with a losers mentality, we still believe there are better days. At least we have that.
Do we?

I said before the game I expected a score of 21-20 or 17-20.

I did expect us to win though. It should have been worse than it was. Franks hit Kentucky DBs in the hands several times and was fortunate they dropped them.

Most of us were overreacting to game one. We’re probably overreacting to this one a bit too although this is a lot closer to what we are than what we saw last week.

Some sober takes:

This IS a better coached team than last year. Less confusion on O for sure. Last year’s delay and procedure penalties were constant. We’re getting the plays in on time. We can’t complain that they aren’t trying to stretch the D by taking deep shots.

The special teams coaching is waaaay better than last year.

Franks IS better. He’s feeling the rush, moving better in the pocket, he’s more of a leader. He’s still not a touch passer, and he’s inaccurate. There are things coaching can fix in a QB. Unfortunately, accuracy seems to be something a QB has or doesn’t have. Franks don’t got it.

Scarlett has shown me nothing this season. Maybe it’s rust but he’s not running as well as Perine or Davis.

Raymond can’t catch.

The OL...sigh. It’s not like we’re rolling out a bunch of true freshmen and a D2 transfer. We have size, experience, even some depth. And they suck. We KNOW Hevesy can coach. He can’t put in what God left out but I’d like to see progress to the level of their ability.

I don’t have much nice to say about the D or Grantham. I really hope Wilson’s injury isn’t an ACL but that’s what it looked like. We’ve got a couple of big run-stoppers at DT and they didn’t clog the middle at all. Others have mentioned the tackling problems. We’ve had this for years and this CAN be improved by coaching. Unfortunately, we have a short defensive bench without a lot of talent on it and that makes coaching a lot harder.

Big picture? We are who we thought we were. Everybody is disappointed because you let last week get your hopes up. We knew D wasn’t going to be good. We were hoping for improvements in special team coaching and in offensive coaching. We’ve got better receivers and a deeper RB corps. We lack overall talent. We have bad LBs and a bad OL. We don’t have a QB. We are who we thought we were.

Alex.
I won’t read a better post this season I don’t think. Great one, Alex.

The way I see it:
There was a reason we played 2 cupcake games to start the year - to iron out the kinks. In spite of 6 weeks of summer practice we looked like we were thinking instead of just playing. I hope this is what the case was because this will fix itself over time.

However, my more feared reason for the loss could be attributed to this team reading about their greatness for beating Charleston Southern and thinking they were great therefore why practice with relentless effort. (this has been a theme for the past 3 or 4 years as I see it). You can't fix this without players that are leaders that don't read their press clippings and that kick the other players in the azz. Also look at good coaches they point out everything screwed up their team did more so than anything good especially after a big win. I'm not sure if Mullin and crew did this and the players don't hear them - which goes back on a lack of player leadership.
