Obviously we are all Gator sports fans here (outside the occasional interloping troll). I was wondering however how many of us are fans because of geography, family ties, etc and how many of us attended the university.

If you clicked on the thread please vote so the results aren't too skewed by a participation bias. Thanks.

Didn’t go to UF. Was raised in a gator house. My stepdad is a gator alum. He took me to gator game after gator game from football to baseball to basketball.

I didn't attend UF. Both grandpas went. One of my grandpas was a teacher there for a long long time. My dad also attended and graduated. I grew up in Gainesville and still live here. 34 years in Gainesville, going to games from all sports. I love UF as if I went there. It's the life blood of the city i grew up in.

Went to UNF. As a kid living in what was once Naval Air Station Cecil Field in Jax, almost every kid there was a Gator hater. Been a Gator fan ever since. My younger brother is a UF grad.

Moved to Brooker when I was 5. Grew up a :chomp: in the shadows of the SWAMP.

Finished my AA at Santa Fe 13 years after graduating high school, transferred to UF, was accepted into the Warrington College of Business, and completed 2 part time semesters while working full time and raising kids. I left after those 2 semesters to concentrate on life.
at the age of 37, I went back to school and finished my BBA by completing 2 years worth of work in 1 calendar year, still working full time, but now with a 3rd kid, and a wife who didn't work :( sadly, it wasn't at UF

even though I've lived in bama most of the last 20 years, I'll always be a :chomp:

the last 10 years have been hard, to say the least

Arrived with Spurrier and John Lombardi. Graduated Law School with a beatdown of our archrival for the MNC. In those 7 football seasons, we lost 2 games at home and won the SEC 6 of those years (I'm counting 1990 when we were on probation).

It was glorious.

Began my college education Fall 1986, lived in Hume. Circumstances prevented me from coming back after my freshman year. Finished my degree elsewhere, but will always be a Gator!

Went to Palm Beach Jr. College for two years got my AA and then xfer to UF College of Journalism. Degree in Broadcasting (Rock 104 and Dial a Score) TV sportscaster in Arkansas and Louisiana after college. My older sister is a UF grad too from the J-School in 81. I graduated UF in 1988 and lived through one of the greatest UF teams (84) but also felt the probation.

I went to Northeastern Illinois University and got my Master's in Communications and Media when I was 50..

Didn’t go to UF. Went to Georgia State briefly, but dropped out to pursue music. Graduated from the school of hard knocks . Nobody else in my immediate family understood football (parents are Caribbean), but I was always into sports growing up. My family was always back in forth between Atlanta and Orlando growing up and I grew to love the Gators, as they were the first team I can remember watching on TV.
