Dameon Pierce needs to see the field a ton more.

Franks is complete crap. 8/15 for 119 against a weak defense like CSU's is UNACCEPTABLE. TERRIBLE.

We have got to run, run, run. Franks is never going to run with purpose. Pierce runs with purpose every time he steps on the field whether it's for offense or special teams. RELENTLESS EFFORT, right Dan???

He's a breakaway threat who could put up video game type numbers and would make even our crap O line look decent.

Perine and Scarlett are looking good, don't get me wrong, but Pierce is a beast. Force of nature.

Remember, this is the kid who broke Hershel Walker's high school rushing record.

Couldn't agree more. Scarlett is solid and Perine really does run tough and i like him a lot but Pierce looks like he could be the real deal. I love Davis but he just doesn't look the same as last year...he was electric last year and he seems a little tentative and slow which is common coming off an injury. I'd love to see Pierce get some real carries

Davis hurt his foot today. X Rays negative but who know if he can practice.

Pierce is the truth. It's time for him to get more looks earlier in the game.

He's got great feet, great vision, tremendous strength, and explosive acceleration and speed.

He has these things to a greater degree than all the other backs.

Dan wants to win? Well dude, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?

It may be a bit premature but it appears that way...he looks special.

I agree. Pierce needs carries earlier in the game. I would like to see what he can do vs Tenn.

I also think Toney needs more opportunities.

Scarlett was averaging over 10 yards a carry today. We just didn't get enough plays because the d couldn't get off the field.

Pierce certainly has a low center of gravity and seems strong, but I can't say he is the next Jim Brown b/c of a single play against a team that was mentally beaten down and probably physically spent. But all he can do is produce when given his chance which he is doing. Davis got nicked so maybe he might be slowed a bit, elevating Pierce. With that said, Scarlett missed a potential 50+yard TD run by missing a cutback lane that you could have driven 2 semi trucks thru simultaneously.

Ranking of current backs:

1. Perine - runs hard, good vision, always going forward
2. Pierce - going to be #1 soon
3. Injured Davis - needs to trust his surgery and run with more authority again
4. Scarlett - he knows the plays.. I think..

Hard to tell in his mop up roll against a couple of wore out defenses. However that breakaway run today brought back memories of number 22.
I would like to see him get some touches with the number 1's to see what he can do against a fresh number one defense.

Don’t forget, we had 2 special teams scores. So that was 2 offensive possession that didn’t happen and the defense had to go right back out there. They needed the work after last week anyways.

Pierce reminds me of Davis last year. We were screaming for Davis to get more touches. I think we all agree he needs to see the field more. Our o-line is horrible but he he patient with his runs and his vision is very good. He runs like a beast whenever he gets a chance and I think he's our best back when it comes to gaining yards despite the crappy o-line play.

I liked what I saw on the split backfield. Lots of misdirection....

Everyone always says the coach knows his players the best and sees them in practice, blah blah. I just don't understand how they cannot tell Scarlett is struggling. I know there is more to RB than just running with the ball (catching the ball, blocking) but Scarlett is easily the 3-4 best back on the team. He is not made for those stretch plays and read options. He has to get north and south. He does not do well with his pads toward the sideline. Yes I know his TD was around the end, but he was almost run down from the back side before he decided to turn on the jets...where has that burst been? He continues to miss holes and cuts that could be long runs. With a struggling OL we cannot afford to miss running lanes. I think his runs have helped make the OL look worse than it may be.
Really would like to see Perine start and then Davis if healthy. Let Scarlett pound when the D is tired. I also feel he was suspended all last year and got the starting position handed back to him no questions asked.
Pierce may be the best of the bunch though hard to say for sure when he is generally running against back ups. Here is to hoping they shake up the RB rotation.

I still rate Davis very highly, but if he's a bit dinged up, then absolutely get Pierce involved more. He's the real deal--glad all the recruitniks were right about him.

If Pierce were to start, bet we'd drive right down the field like Gators of old. Bet he would not give reason to take him out. He makes me think of Uga's Todd Gurley, who didn't break Herschel Walker's H.S. rushing record.
