SEC East as good or better than SEC West

Kentucky and Florida made East 2-0 against West so far this season. Bama aside, the remaining interdivisional games at least look competitive (except Tenn vs Auburn?). Is this the year East re-establishes the balance of power against the West?

Or it says that Cowbell is what their record says they are, a team that was 7- 9 in Sec the last two years and who has a QB who is still incapable of passing, rather than being some SEC powerhouse.

It's still pretty uneven when you consider the Bama-Auburn-LSU trifecta.

Not unless somebody over here wins the SEC championship.

We’ll know more after this weekend.

But Bama is hands down better than anybody.

Over all it might be close. Let's look at a case by case effect, at least by my opinion.

East Division
  • Georgia – 1,572 (138) Compare to Alabama, winner west perhaps close.
  • Florida – 1,526 (96) Compare to Auburn, biased opinion Florida but close at best.
  • Tennessee – 998 (3) Arkansas, perhaps close but west wins.
  • South Carolina – 897 (5) Ole Miss, west wins by a good margin
  • Kentucky – 869. Compare to LSU, now perhaps even at best.
  • Vanderbilt – 554 (1) MSU west wins.
  • Missouri - 388. I don't know see TAM, west wins.
West Division
  • Alabama – 2,220 (246)
  • LSU – 1,984 (76)
  • Ole Miss – 1,479 (5)
  • Texas A&M – 1,130 (3)
  • Arkansas – 1,047 (1)
  • Auburn – 890.
  • Mississippi State – 518.
So by my not very great analysis the west is still overall better, perhaps getting closer but hard to tell.

Comment as you desire.

The East is certainly better top to bottom(other than UT) than in the last 4 or 5 years IMO but we'll find out over the next few weeks if it's caught back up with the West(Bama aside).
As someone else pointed out Auburn is having offensive troubles since the beginning of the season....The 2 Miss. teams are both below average and Arky is wishing they never ran Bert out of town...what an armpit that place is and always will be.
Meanwhile in the East we have UGA, UK(yes they are better than average)UF who is rebuilding and most likely a year or 2 away, Mizzou who can score also seems to be a little better than average this year....Vandy, USCe, and UT are bad football teams that will make good confidence builders for UF this year and next.

We will have to see what the final W-L record is.The East has been getting killed by the West since right after the expansion to 14 teams in 2012. I think it was .500 that year and has been really bad ever since for the East.
