I don't expect our boys to take Vandy lightly, this staff actually knows how to prepare the team. Needless to say, it would be a huge letdown to lose this one right before UGA.

It's funny how your memory sometimes plays tricks on you. For some reason I was thinking Vandy always gives the Gators a bad time in Nashville. So to get to the bottom of that feeling, which was wrong by the way, I did a little research:

The last time the Gators lost AT Vandy: Oct. 1988 Vandy 24 Gators 9
The last time the Gators lost to Vandy at home: Sept. 2013 Vandy 34 Gators 17
The last time the Gators lost to Vandy before Sept. 2013: the road loss in 1988
The score for the last game at Vandy in 2016: Gators 13 Vandy 6

The game scores AT Vandy before 2016 back through the Spurrier years?
2014 Gators 34 Vandy 10
2012 Gators 31 Vandy 17
2010 Gators 55 Vandy 14
2008 Gators 42 Vandy 14
2006 Gators 25 Vandy 19
2004 Gators 34 Vandy 17
2002 Gators 21 Vandy 17
2000 Gators 43 Vandy 20
1998 Gators 45 Vandy 13
1996 Gators 28 Vandy 21
1994 Gators 24 Vandy 7
1992 Gators 41 Vandy 21

So other than 2016, 2006, 2002, and 1996 it has basically been a blowout. So I'm not sure why I was always have this feeling about Vandy at Nashville but the record says otherwise.

Funny how memory plays tricks on you....

I have the same memories. Vandy at Vandy is tough and the game is played in the cold. Like you said facts don't support the perception. Sometimes even happens during the Supreme Court nomination process. Opps, wrong thread.

Because it seems like we struggle early on and that the game is a grind for about 2 1/2 qtrs. It drives me nuts. I feel like this game will be the same way. Struggle to be consistent against a decent D and then blow it open. I'll take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day!
Go Gators!

The final score does not always indicate the struggle that we have way too much with Vandy. Even teams under SOS had struggles. We really need to come out in total domination mode. Shut them down if we start of defense, score on a good long drive if we start on offense. Dominate from start to finish, not a close game but one I would enjoy greatly. I like blow outs, lets get one.

It is not always cold in fact it usually is pretty mild. Hopefully it will be nice so Gators can enjoy the great atmosphere that this game has. Great for the massive number of Gators that will be there, not for Vandy fans.

We do well there because at least 40% of the crowd will be gator fans. It's also a small stadium and not very loud. The factor that will affect this team the most is the 11:00 am start time. As long as they all get a good night's sleep, they'll be fine.

While I’ve been to 3 SECCGs, several UGA games in Jax and neutral site games in Tampa and Orlando, Vandy is the only road SEC game I’ve been to - in 2002. I was working on a Masters degree in TN and a Gator buddy offered me a ticket.

Had a great time with my friend but it was a surreal, depressing atmosphere. It was a noon EST kickoff, which meant 11am local time. There was zero interest or energy on campus about the game. Few tailgates scattered around, one restaurant/bar open that was packed but nothing else. Zero indication a game was on that day.

The stadium was battleship gray - like a ship for the Commodore, get it? Dull. The sky was gray, as it is there from October through April. There were 6,000 Gator fans tucked in one corner and about 3,000 Vanderbilt fans scattered around the rest of the stadium. Had it been a ship it would have tipped over.

With so few fans, concessions were paltry and bad. I love a hot pretzel at a game. Theirs was cold and hard.

The game was dull despite being Grossman v. Jay Cutler. The Gators won 21-17 but looked listless.

I've been to 2 games there. Enjoyed both of them. Last game there were so many Gators there, seemed like a home game.

At it usually is. Living not too far away I used to go every time the Gators were there. Many Gators celebrate the night before downtown. The campus is not like UF, so no tailgates, etc.

How’s Vandy’s defense looking this year? Really hoping our Oline can push them around and we can run for 250 plus, but won’t be shocked like many here to see us sleep walk through the 1st half after a big win last week.

Anyone else worried that now that even the staunchest of the Mullen dumpers are pretty much on board, we are being set up to have our nuts ripped off and stuffed in our Donkey-like pie-holes?

I'm hoping for a relaxing blowout, because if it's a back and forth game, or worse yet, if we have to come from behind, it's going to make for a very uneasy Saturday morning.

Heres an Idea just go hang out on Music row and get drunk, sing karaoke, dance like a wild man , get more drunk crawl up to a sports bar and watch us beat the living chit out of Vandy.
Why chance it.
