Player Failed The Worst By The Previous Staffs

We've clearly seen development this year on the part of the team...except Fred Johnson and C'yontai Lewis (they can prove me wrong, we are only half way there). Partially inspired by Mullen discussing Moral Stephens in the press conference today. So I've got a question, what offensive player do you think was ruined by the lack of development and/or offensive philosophy the most? I'm going to ignore players who transferred elsewhere and lit it up (like Brissett and even Driskel:eek3:) and ignore players who were already established like Demps/Rainey. Also, no players Mullen has this year as they can e somewhat salvaged like Stephens.

My nominees currently are:
Matt Jones- Flashed plenty of potential, especially in the '12 FSU game at the end. However, I can't say he ever got any better. He was good, but imagine him in a competent scheme with actual development.

Kelvin Taylor- This guy possibly could have lived up to the 5 star hype under any other coaching staff.

Demarcus Robinson- Guy had a good career, but again, could have been great with any sort of scheme. Plus, was there a position group more cursed as far as their position coach over the past decade? What did we have, 7, 8 WR coaches after Billy G. and before Billy G.'s return?

Ahmad Fulwood- ok, I wanted one more and didn't want to go to Debose because he had some Meyer highlights...in the beginning of the dark times. Anyways, Fulwood came in a 4 star guy, had the size and at times we saw flashes. If he had a consistent coach and scheme, maybe he wouldn't have been what we could call a bust.

Honorable Mention- Quinton Dunbar. Seriously, this dude was talented enough to change not only position, but side of the ball in the NFL and have a career. We couldn't do anything with him at UF...come on, man!

Who was the person most let down by the horrid former staffs? One of these? Someone else? Lets discuss.

Didn't Dunbar have a crazy streak of like 13 games with a TD? (i might be exaggerating but i know it was mentioned during broadcasts.)

Longest streak with a caught pass in Gator History, but also I believe owns the record for the longest streak of a dropped pass as well. Playing well as a DB in the NFL.

Well Driskell and Brissett are NFL QBs...and that had nothing to do with coaching...so them imo

My dad would have said Terry Dean.

TD was in a cutthroat battle with Danny Boy. Maybe not the best scenario for TD, but he certainly wasn’t subject to a felonious lack of development. So, I respectfully disagree with your dad.

I can't believe Jachai Polite hasn't been mentioned. He went from a guy who, under the previous staff, would not have been a combine invite. Now, he is getting thrown in as an early 2nd to late first round pick. This is assuming he keep up the pace he is on. We will lose Cece and Jachai at the end of the year. And Clayton is being mentioned as trasferring.

Treon. He was forced to self-medicate with marijuana to deal with the constant trauma of being coached by Musdump and a yellow-toothed adult that fed him PB&J's and tried to sell him BBQ sauce.

Maybe part of the problem but I think the pressure of Claribelle starting was what caused it. That's a lot of pressure for anyone.

Eddie Pinero .... not only did he miss out on all those championship rides at Bama. Butters never once gave him a chance at a game winning kick... even with numerous late game opportunities to do so....in the Swamp even. What a waste of a good kicker. Tragically Hilarious that the only recruiting victory he had against Saban was for a useless kicker.

the best thing to do is to run the clock out and hope for overtime.

Yeah, there were plenty of people that would start talking Terry Dean every time DW threw and INT, which was somewhat often. Plenty that thought TD didn't get a fair shot, TD had a better arm, TD had the quicker release, whatever.

And then, when it was time for Grier to come back, that dickball Butters made him feel unwelcome and unwanted, as if he'd been caught selling heroin to children and pregnant mothers,

G3 - I know you’re kind of new here.
But any and all Grier/Butters relationship thread responses need to be run through Crete for approval prior to posting.
