Poor Fred. A one-armed Heggie is like twice as good. Fred needs something to fix his clumsy feet fast. Ballet? Yoga? Head shrinker? Visit with ROG’s magical fixer?

Never before at any level of football have I seen the leading rusher held back to the 4th quarter “so he can pound a tired defense”.

Honestly the RB is probably the one position that top runners get stronger as a game wears on and they typically want and need carries.

No, he’s not playing simply because the coach has an established hierarchy that he apparently won’t break until it’s not working. As long as we are winning and Scarlett and Perine continue to play really well...the freshman will go last. Can’t really argue with that logic I guess.

The day will come that we will realize Pierce is not a tease or an illusion. We’ll get 2 huge seasons out of him.

LaGarrett Blount. Was a staple for the Pats offense after getting a lead. It's a perfect spot for Pierce at this point, due to the "trust" of the coaches (in regards to pass blocking).

Wasn’t Scarlett horrific in pass protection last year? I seem to remember that being the main reason he didn’t get more time on the field.

I know you mean the year before last, but yes - I think that was true for the entire group. It was pretty bad in the way the Pacific is somewhat an ocean.

Agree 100%. It's frustrating as hell.

RB's get into a groove just like QB's do. I'm a proponent of having a bellcow and it certainly seems like Pierce is the most talented of the 3.

CDM has made it clear that he's loyal to the upperclassmen tho

Hmmmm.... I remember when they played Cronk bc he blocked better but everyone couldn't wait til Scarlett got the ball.

If I understand Marine1 correctly he feels the staff is giving the lineup greater consideration than being the best pure runner. The jump from HS to handling college level assignments is probably significant. As long as either Scarlett or Perine have a good day and neither turn it over it's probably more secure. Perine was money vs LSU. If Pierce has to improve in other ways for staff to trust him more he will more than likely look back and is thankful that he was forced to become a complete back $$$.

Pierce is from Bainbridge so perhaps the staff is waiting to let him out of his cage in a couple weeks. Yes, I went there. We are sandbagging Pierce for georgia.

Backs that get stronger with more carries are the exception not the rule. Those kinda backs end up as first round draft picks. Plus backs that play every down have a good chance of not finishing the season.

Blount carried the rock 299 times his last year in NE and 165 times in just 12 games the year before. He may have not always started but those aren’t just 4th qtr carries.

Besides I don’t doubt there are plenty of RB’s who only play 4th qtr minutes. Just very, very few backs who lead their team in yards and ypc who are held back.

I’m ok with the rotation for now. Just keep winning. Pierce’s next 2 years will be awesome.

Have you let Mullen know? I’m sure he’ll be relieved.

The more you hype this kid, the more I think he’ll be a disappointment. Dial it back, for his sake.

Careful with the snarkasm, Ox. Marine could camp out in the bushes 2 ft from your house for 3 months and no one would ever know...

Let Mullen know? Is that the criteria for a message board? Should I reference this criteria on every “Feliepe, Trask, Mullen, Grantham sucks” post? I mean there are only several thousand more of those.

You’re going to be disappointed that you ever considered he might be a disappointment.

But yeah I’ll probably pull back some. It’s a lot harder to hype a kid positively than it is to drag a kid down.

Scarlett always seems like he’s close to breaking a long run, but never does. He’s become a great blocker and has been clutch at getting that one yard when we need it. Others on here have said they’d like to see him get the bulk of his carries in the 2nd half, I agree with that. Like to see Perine featured more early in the game and Pierce get some early action as well. Glad we got all three though.

I think any dB could grab his shoe string to take him down.

I have to say I really thought JS would have been more dominating running the ball this year; however, He seems to be slower to the holes and not getting it done. What say you?

In the LSU game I watched they chose him on nearly every "critical - gut check" running play and he kicked ass. Not trying to take away from the other RB's, they excelled as well.
