What dafuq did you expect after reading those names?

These beers are brewed for hipsters. I’ve noticed the hipsters rave over those beers to each other. Inside their own heads, they know these beers were terrible. Hipsters cannot publicly speak ill of bad beers. Every crazy beer is great!! They cannot say otherwise.

It was a flight at a food and wine fest. Zero chance I try any of those free standing, minus the IPA.

I was just shocked at how bad they actually were. Someone ok’d putting them out in front of millions as the face of their brewery.

Unfortunately, the phone thing is probably accurate.

But, ftr, it looks like the 3 of the 4 are drinking Miller Lite or some other traditional American Lager/Pilsner.

Spaten oktoberfest

Really good. It puts to shame the domestic versions of the style . You’ll feel like you’re in Berlin sipping this delight . It’s a medium bodied brew that goes down easy. Solid A.

Hey, I'm not knocking you guys, I'm just saying what works for me given my experiences where if one can have a COLD beer, any fookin beer at all, it's the best beer ever. Everything else in this thread is icing. You have no idea how many times I gladly paid $5-$8 for a can of cold heiniken or stella and in those circumstances they were hands down the best beers EVER. ;)

PS That said, I'd still take a cold Stella or Bud Lite Platinum over just about anything else. I just like what I like. Same with vodka, it's practically all I drink and I only drink one brand, not because I'm a vodka snob, but because it's the one i like.
Who the F likes warm beer? Ice cold, the better.

As for the vodka, is you liking Skyy? I’m a Chopin fan myself.

Blue pants chocolate oatmeal porter

Aroma and taste is of milk chocolate. The oatmeal seems to be missing, as the secondary flavor and aftertaste is vanilla . It reminds me of left hand stout, just not quite that level of taste . It’s a good beer but nothing to seek out for future endeavors . Solid B.

Dogfish Head liquid truth serum

Really tasty brew. Good looking hazy IPA that has a tangerine somewhat pineapple taste . Really all you can ask for in a beer . Great aroma, taste and appearance . I’ll be on the lookout for this one. $10 or less is a steal
For a sixer. A-

Bells special double cream stout

Sometimes when you set the bar so high a really good effort can appear a disappointment. It tastes good with heavy malt and dark chocolate . The cream taste hides a relatively already benign six percent . I was expecting Fred Taylor and I end up with Eugene McCaslin . A fine effort good enough for many , but not the best of the best . That is what bells has to live up to . Mccaslin was better at tackling than he was at carrying the football. Bells brews a great IPA, but like Eugene carrying the football, this stout is just a step up from average . B-

Russian Standard. Bought Gold for the first time tonight, will review later, after it’s COLD! ;)

Should be cold by now . Give it s whirl sally!
OK, it’s really good. Normally, I just like plain, regular tasting Ukrainian and Russian vodka with no weird flavors (like stupid fruity beer). That said, I have like Nemiroff with honey, but hate the stuff with pepper (not black pepper, hot pepper. There are four types of Russian Standard, three of which escalate in price/quality with number and type of filtering. I love all those. This is first time I’ve tried Gold. Same four filters as regular, but has a hint of caramel, vanilla, spearmint, and ginseng. Wasn’t sure how I felt about that, but it’s pretty fukkin amazing... smoothes the bite and tastes good. I’ll keep at it and let you know if my optinion changes! ;)

I experienced this for the first time. Went to Heist Brewery in Charlotte this week. Basically 2 base beers with **** put in with it for a total of 12. Very disappointed. Food was OK, not will not be back. I prefer my Flying Saucer.

So much for not drinking at home . Thanks for the review buddy. People out there actually like spicy drinks? Crazy . I’ll be on the lookout for this one .

Funny you say this. In the off week, I tried this and came to the same conclusions. It's a drinkable beer, and I always enjoy a good stout to close a beer evening. But this one fell well short of my expectations. Considering the name, I was expecting much more.
