I did not think Russell's heart issue was correctable. He has thickening of the heart walls. I also never hear If Robinson had the same issue, but he was supposedly on the sideline today in shorts and a jersey. Never can tell with the tweets these kids send out.

He’s a kid that wanted to be a Gator and I would love for him to get the chance to get on the field but I don't see a scenario where UF would give him clearance. From needing a defibrillator to playing? I just don’t see it.

Nope. I know something about echocardiography (it's what I do), and if the pics they had on screen were actually his there is no way he gets clearance either way. Bad juju. Like sudden death juju.
Mom really seemed like a great lady in the video.

All anyone can hope for in life is that you die doing something you love. I think that's what Russell is after.

Randy Russell has been a big part of our recruiting staff. It's a shame he can't play, but it's great to see him remain a part of the program. Mulen mentions him specifically in this article:

Atmosphere at Florida a huge selling point for Mullen

Atmosphere at Florida a huge selling point for Mullen

“They look at maybe a guy like a Randy Russell, who joined our program and all of a sudden, a week after being on campus, his dreams… in one part of his life are shattered, yet he's still a major part of our program, so much so he was voted on to the leadership committee of our team by his teammates,” Mullen said. “And I think when a lot of the families, they come and they see that family aspect that we have here. Our commitment to developing young men, not just to be champions on the field but off the field, in the classroom, in the community, in every aspect of their life to develop them to become the best that they can be. I think that that is a very comforting feeling for families that have looked and worked and these young men that have looked and worked to make themselves successful in not just one phase, in every part of their life and have high aspirations for every part of their life that they see that they can accomplish that here within our program.

I hope and Pray that Randy finds the path that God has prepared for him.

He sounds like a solid young man.
