Fact: Mizzou is 0-4 in the SEC. Also Fact, those losses include Kentucky, Alabama, and Georgia. They did lose to South Carolina, who played a back up, after a rain delay, in Columbia (you figure it out), after kicking a 57 yard field goal to go ahead with 1:18 left in the game, and South Carolina playing their back up who had never had a meaningful snap.

Point? They have 3 quality losses in the SEC including two teams that beat UF and one that probably would. They haven't lost to Vandy or Arky or Ole Miss or Tennessee. They could be threatening.

We are 3-3 against Mizzou since they joined the SEC. None of these games felt big. '12 was a pedstrian game that no one seemed to care about and was sealed on an endzone pick with little time left, and yet the stadium didn't seem excited at all. I still have the picture I took of the scoreboard at 0:00 left after the '14 game. I remember being part of the group of what remained in the stadium chanting "Fire Muschamp". I remember '16 being a day where defense and special teams put up half the points (back to back pick 6's).

Offense
Franks has to make teams pay down the field. The inconsistency has hurt the team. Last week he missed a few throws that if he hits them change the game. No, I haven't forgot Moral Stephens' drop that also occurred at a big point in the game. Seriously, imagine if he catches that and we go on to score on the drive. That's 14-10 wth us getting the ball first to start the second half. If we start the 2nd half the same way, that's 21-10. Entirely different game, but I'm digressing. Point is, passing game needs to be bette. The good news is Mizzou's pass defense has been poor and even their radio guy said that today on Steve Russell's WRUF show. Franks needs to be more consistent down the field and we can't drop passes down the field...especially on 3rd down (Van Jefferson dropped the 3rd down drag at Vandy when he had blockers).

The running game should do well. How about we not get away from Scarlett when he's averaging 8 yards a carry? That would be great. Perine is a beast. Fred Johnson is learning not to be a waste of a scholarship. He seems to do better the more I call him out, maybe its some cosmic (hey, look at UCF's unis) karma, so I continue.

Defense
At least Henderson will be back. Less Stiner, more Stewart. I know, I know, some of you still:jerkit: bout that #failstate hit where he ran untouched to get a game sealing sack that literally any other player could have done with that size of the hole. Oh, and he got a pick against LSU when we dropped and LSU had to throw deep. Can people give me highlights that are in the regular play of the game? Dude enjoyed some bad angles against Vandy and blew a big coverage last week. At least we beat Houston for him (can we get some of that cosmic karma on this rant about Stiner?).

Pass rush was disappointing last week, yes there was holding, but also a good scheme by UGA to hit some quick passes and moving the pocket.

If Mizzou beats us with the run and not the pass, the rest of the season will be long. I think the return of Henderson helps and the not as respectable run game compared to UGA and UK will help us.

If we can get to Locke, it will be big. Hopefully, the stadium will be a difference.

We can still get 10 wins and it starts against Mizzou. What kind of crazy would have said that such a thing would even be a possiblity before the season began?

Florida 28 Mizzou 20

(Side note: the original tag line had to do with Mizzou students playing with their fecal matter and drawing on the walls, I changed it before posting to take a little bit of a high road and also to avoid this devolving into a political discussion.)

Reasonable score prediction Truth. There's some drunken bastards over in the game prediction thread thinking we'll score more than Alabama did.

Agree about stiner, he was the beneficiary of a great call that required nothing but running in a straight line untouched. Our safeties aren't great but when we get pressure they don't have to be. We need to get pressure.

I'm just worried about Franks regressing more. We're one dimensional with the behind the line passing and run game. If Mullinz can't trust Franks enough to call down the field plays then it's going to be ugly.
Hope the D can have a 6 sack, 3 INT game.

Does anyone else think that Van Jefferson has given up too early on some of Franks deep overthrows? On at least two occasions - Georgia being one - I was left with the feeling that if he ran full speed and laid out for the catch they may have been completions.

Yes, twice now. Our receivers need to help out the QB more.

It was a long pass and I wish Franks had put some air under it. I suspect that he was told bc he seemed to float the next few passes, including the interception.

Im not saying it was uncatchable, just that it wasnt thrown as well as it could have been.

I think he also surprises people with how far he can throw it. That giraffe has a cannon for sure.

I heard even great QBs like Wuerffel missed like 40% of their passes.

I know everyone feels like Franks should be perfect bc he is only going to get one or two downfield passes per game in this scheme, but QBs generally need more throws to stay in rhythm.

Felt the same way about the Georgia flea flicker.

Of course they weren’t perfect passes, that’s why I said I wish our receivers would show better effort sometimes, even if that means putting your hands up and actually trying to catch a ball that’s a little high. Perhaps even (gasp) laying out for a ball.

Maybe Jefferson just has a problem with depth perception, because I’ve now seen him watch two long balls sail over his head that I’m convinced he could have gotten his hands on had he bothered to make the effort.

Franks needs help, so make every effort to help him.

He always looks surprised. Like he didn't expect the ball or something. Or surprised the pass was actually that close to him.

Swain is easily our best receiver this year.

I kinda think Franks needs to check off the big ball more and take the underneath stuff. I think part of his problem is he wants to hit the homerun too much. Fromm killed us underneath while Franks threw the long ball into coverage way too much. There were open WRs underneath those long balls he threw into double coverage against UGA as well as previous games. Hitting what they give you helps open up the homerun.

As Truth pointed out, I think Mizzou is much tougher than their record shows because of their schedule strength. I watched the South Carolina game, which was a weird one. When it wasn't raining, Mizzou was out-playing them and winning. When it rained, Mizzou played like garbage and looked like a completely different team.

I think this is going to be a close one. I think Mizzou really wants an SEC win, and will play us tough. Plus our weaknesses in the secondary play to their strengths. Our D-line needs to step up and own that line of scrimmage so that we can get some pressure on Lock. I suspect they'll run a bunch of quick stuff, so our secondary/LB's needs to tackle well and hopefully get Lock off rhythm with different blitzes. Dooley is their OC, so that will likely help us out.

Anyways, I think we win but only by single digits. 27-21.

Our DB subs should get good training to shore up depth for next year. Hope they play well to be part of our DB rebuild.
