What is the reason for Mullen's perceived cap?

One thing to keep in mind is that our WR group is supposed to be our strongest position group on the team...….so far FF has not been able to get them involved in the offense enough to be the difference makers they're supposed to be.....F vck it, give Trask the ball to start the next game. If he looks like crap at halftime then reinsert FF or let EJ finish out the game....it's not like there's a lot to lose at this point anyway.

What risk is there really? Franks was never the future. EJ and JJ are.

He was given what I think everyone would say was a very fair shot. He wasn't pulled the first game he sucked. He has sucked for 6 weeks. So they can used that with us vs recruits, that you won't get a fair shot.

He is what his record says he is, so far. Mediocre coach and poor recruiter.

You're nuts if you think our receivers are great.

Hell, our best receiver just left with a pretty serious looking injury and our second only gets on the field a handful of plays a game and only runs sweeps.

Maybe, but I've seen the Mullinz show enough to know damn well he can't use receivers anyway except for screens and sweeps.

I know, I know, and those two passes downfield per half.

This year was always a throwaway. The cost of keeping a guy who couldn't or was just too lazy to recruit.

Let's get a quarterback who makes sense and talk then.

How would anyone know if they're great, mediocre or awful, most of them only get 1 or maybe 2 chances a game with Franks behind the center.....he literally takes them out of the game by either not seeing them or making inaccurate throws over 50% of the time....you know I'm no Trask fanboy but it getting to the same point as when Butters kept trotting Treon out there....it ain't working.

I sometimes wonder if our WR core isn't trying. I hear broadcasters talking about there was no open receiver. However I see guys getting opened and Frankenbreans throw it to man in heavy coverage or over throw it. I know if I was playing my tail off, and I had to deal with Frankenbeans I would slack off in trying. The guy just can't make the right throw. Trask seems to be a better passer but it doesn't take much to do better than Frankinbeans

Watch our WR when another WR has the ball, most times they don’t block or try. When stood up and fighting, they rarely help push for extra yardage, they just watch. Maybe they are filmingit for youtube

That isn't a Franks thing. Our WRs under Mullinz have never gotten more than 1-2 catches.

It's also why after the 2006 class we struggled to land any decent WR recruits.

I agree with the rest. Franks just needs to sit.

Shame though because I do believe guys like Grimes, Jefferson and Swain could really open up our running game if we could find a way to get them the ball more consistently even 10-20 yards downfield....I've noticed during the 2nd half of the UGA game and then this week the defenses are starting to creep up on the los…..This could look a lot like the end of 2015 if Mullen doesn't get a more consistent downfield passing plan in place...quickly.

If he is absolutely NOT playing EJ, then play Trash, and find some way to run without the option.

I just don't know how you do it in a week. Grab the old Butters playbook I guess.

And you have a separate playbook for Trash and EJ. That is bad for an OL and team that is struggling anyway. Lots of problems ahead now that the Franks experiment is (hopefully) over.

Why not play Trask and a ton of wildcat with Toney? Don’t see why Toney doesn’t get the ball in his hands more.

Hard to argue, we’ll see how this recruiting shakes out this year. Possible for us to still win 10 games, which would’ve shocked me before the season. I’m having serious doubts even about 9 wins now.

Dude, you know what I feel about passing. It just isn't in his playbook.

Our bytching about it isn't going to change a thing.

Sad because even teams that run standard option/rpo stuff have realized that they need a decent percentage of medium/downfield passes to manipulate defenses.....all the pre snap shifts and sideways passes in the world won't work with 7,8 and 9 defenders within 2 yards of the LOS.....UGA and Mizzou were all over that.

That's a bit self-serving, Itraz. We played poorly, no question, but we're still saddled with the athletes we were left with. Against a good quarterback who gets the ball out early, we didn't fare well. That happened a week ago. No coincidence.

Drew lock had 1 TD and never threw 250 yds in sec play. We made him look like Drew Brees.

So we should fire them huh? Regardless of current talent and the fact this recruiting class isn’t close to being filled? Nice of you to show up in this thread though in week 8 of the season after a loss for your “see I’m right” comment

Another game where the playcalling created opportunities through the air. We didn't capitalize because the quarterback sailed the ball high or wide, or because he had three rushers in his face.

You can't say Mullen doesn't try to create chances to move the ball through the air.
