You're missing the point.....if he didn't quit when he did, his college career would be OVER....done, no years of eligibility left, adios amigos. Him quitting was the only way for him to get a realistic shot starting elsewhere for his last year
I get the point. But I’m saying if he stays he’s one snap away from leading his team to championship games. His career is not necessarily done if he stays. But the bigger point is what guarantee will he be asking for? Simply the same opportunity that Clemson gave him? Earn it? What if EJ or Jalen are ready to go next year? Will this kid quit if they ball out? Will he smile on the sideline if he gets pulled?
I understand the new dynamic with free agency but I can’t believe these aren’t considered legitimate questions. If DM vets this kid and is convinced he is a team-first guy then he has to give him a shot. But I would damn sure be asking him the hard questions.
