Some complain that California is too far to stretch our recruiting reach. How the heck does one recruit Hawaii?

Alabama's OC was coaching in Hawaii when Tua was in 8th grade, and saw him at a camp then.. Been following him since and recruited him..

UF needs a permanent billboard in Hawaii. They've got heavyset fellows over there.
Oregon, USC, UCLA etc. have several Hawaians.

Hate to say it... Tua is on track to become GOAT... replacing Tebow.

As a pure football player and leader, I doubt it. No doubt Tua is a better passer than Tebow, I’m not arguing that. Doubt he has the toughness and leadership Tebow displayed while here. Tebow would run right over Tua’s ass.

Not to be Bama loving cuz honestly I’m so tired of their dynasty B.S., it’s almost become boring watching CFB. I hate Bama more than most on here. But watching Tua reminds me of Tebow. His Aloha spirit is similar to Tebow. Heck, he even ****ing makes Saban smile, and inspires his whole team. Tough as nails also. And a better passer by far. Smarter even? Looks like a challenger for the GOAT to me.

I like Tua. I’d prefer not watching Alabama destroy college football for a decade straight, but I think he’s as genuine a player as you’ll find in the game today, seems to handle himself like a throwback from the ‘60s and is a lot of fun to watch play.

That said, we have these types of conversations all the time, way too early. I’m not saying he couldn’t do it, but I think we have to wait until he’s dominated for several seasons before putting him in that conversation. Tebow made a significant mark on cfb for 4 years, when everyone knew exactly what was coming. Tua may surpass him when all is said and done, but he’s not there yet, imo.

I’ll always love him for 2nd and 26 though.

Come on. There's not a coach in America that would take Tua over Tebow if they had to pick only one. The combination of skill, commitment and passion Tebow played with made him an iconic legend.

Human cheat code.

However, as strange as it may sound, I don't think he translates well to the NFL.
What did you think about Russell Wilson? Because they are basically the same guy although Tua has a little stronger arm. I think he will be alright.

Tua is a beast no doubt. I’m definitely hoping he lights UGAy’s ass up again. He’ll win the heisman as a true sophomore like Tebow. He’ll no doubt have a better pro career than Tebow had. Just don’t see him having the lasting impact that Tebow did on college football.

Whatever it is, he has it and a wagon load of it. I think he's right there with Spurrier, Manning (Archie), Namath and Stabler. What a talent!

I know some of what it is. He has a great offensive line that mostly protects him, he has great wide receivers who get open, catch the ball, and make yac. He has a great defense that gets him more opportunities.

He also throws great but without the previously mentioned things he would not be as good as he is. I see he has a brother who was being pandered to by LSU, I bet bama gets him as well.

I think Wilson is a trash qb to tell you the truth. The reason they won was bc they paid him about 800k a season and stacked the team with studs all around him and a beast of a run game. As soon as he demanded nfl money and they had to come down from the talent stratosphere advantage they had in order to pay him what he wanted they went right down the toilet and have sucked balls since. He's a situational running back sitting in the QB spot and should not be making significant QB dollars.

As far as comparisons, I think tuas game much closer resembles manziels with obviously none of the off field baggage. You watch him play tho; those crazy throws where he Chuck's it backwards over his shoulder while getting spun around are very manziel like. And while they are a sports center top 10 highlight in college, they are a "c'mon man" segment in the NFL. A big part of his game is doing things that are not wise at the next level. He also prescripts where he's going with the ball; it's been discussed during games this season. This works fine in college when you have superior athletes at every position but see what happens if you prescript where you're going with the ball in the NFL.

Again, don't hate the kid, he's ridiculous. It's incredible. But a significant portion of what makes him unreal in college IMO, is the same thing that will get him benched in the pros.

You were doing okay, wrong, but okay on your Wilson discussion. All of Wilson’s records are passing related including FBS single season all time record for passing efficiency, most passing TD by an NFL rookie, most wins in first 6 years, second highest passer rating behind only Aaron Rodgers. Not to mention 2 Super Bowls in a row. Again, Tua and Wilson are incredibly similar in stature and style of play. He even looks a little like Wilson. I think Tua will have a similar excellent pro career.

But then you went very close to full retard comparing Tua to Johnny Dooshbag.

Tua is light years ahead of that failure and it’s not because of off field issues, it’s because Manziel sucks and Tua is an incredible talent.

I said near, not full. I was mostly just trying to be funny, but it is a fact that Wilson is a 4 time Pro Bowler including 2017, and Manziel is a bad Canadian Football League QB. I would say you are way undervaluing both Tua and Wilson. Time will tell but I wouldn't bet against Tua's game being very successful in the NFL.

you keep bringing up wilson not me, couldnt care less about him. as i already said i think tuas game is more manziel than anyone else. but thats my opinion. i also think he wont be very successful in the nfl. not saying a bust, but not a big time qb. again, opinion.

Tua has a bad knee that I think is going to be an issue for him the rest of his life. In my opinion, Grier will be the better NFL player.

it wont even be close. if grier keeps his head on right (not a forgone conclusion) and does the things off the field needed to develop as a pro qb, the sky's the limit.
