@onlygators: RT @ThayerEvansSI: Michigan offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier is expected to be named to the same position at Florida per a source.

Thomas Goldkunt has announced it as well.

Personally, I feel the same about the OC as I felt about the DC with Muschamp. This will be McElwain's offense.

Well, let's have it. Let's have a CFB-competent GC-analyst give us the breakdown on Nussmeir's abilities.

From a Michigan staffer on 247.

His tenure at Michigan was not indicative of his abilities as an offensive coordinator.

Michigan's turnover margin was beyond pitiful (worst in the country if I remember right?), and despite Devin Gardner being a great guy and a good ambassador for the University, his play at quarterback was incredibly poor this season.

Nussmeier actually turned around Michigan's running game to an extent and I thought consistently put them in good positions to score. They were just awful in the red zone due to poor quarterback play and inconsistency on the offensive line.

Certainly has a ton of experience and some excellent offenses over the years. Offensive Coordinator stops at Fresno State, Washington, two years at Alabama, a year at Michigan.

So this dude replaced McElwain as OC at Alabama? So we now have TWO Alabama OC's as coaches?

It's starting to feel like we have a real head coach though, and some real assistants. The days of learning on the job appear to be over.

Two OCs on staff that have won National Championships :) It will be nice to have an offense again.

Yet another coach on our staff who won a national title at Bama. He also has two years NFL experience. One thing is for sure, there isn't much the guy hasn't seen in terms of coaching offenses, offensive personnel and game-planning.

Wasn't he somewhat underwhelming at Bama?

Beat Notre Dame in the NC 42-14. But I don't know what the overall stats were. I'll get them soon. I think he was there 2012-2013 I think.

My question about Nuss is this, if he was really all that good, why would Bama give him up without a fight? Kiffin made that offense look a lot better than it has been in previous years.

Not a fan of this hire but would like to be proven wrong.

In fact, all 3 of Bama's titles now reside on our staff; two with Mac, one with Nussmeier.
