Wasn't he somewhat underwhelming at Bama?

Under his guidance, junior quarterback A. J. McCarron set the school record for touchdown passes in a season. If the school record for TD passes at a storied school like Bama is underwhelming, then what or whom would overwhelm you?

As opposed to whom, Weis, Pease, Roper and Muschamp?

Roper probably does have more 3000 yard passers under his. Belt but I'm not going to get in a pissing match about it. These guys are familiar with each other and that's what's important

The 2 years nuss was there bama aired the ball out quite a bit; more than they do now actually. I think this will be solid.

Can anyone answer this; why did Nuss leave Alabama for Michigan and why did Alabama not put up much of a fight for him?

I am not trying to start a pissing match, I am just wanting to understand that whole transition.

@RobbieAndreu: The Sun has confirmed that Nussmeier is going to be named the offensive coordinator at Florida.

I'm not sure what to think of this if it becomes true. I think it was believed that he and Saban didn't get along. This is an interesting article about Nussmeier where Saban begged him to throw the ball more. We definitely don't want a 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense.

@RobbieAndreu: Under Nussmeier, Alabama had 3,000 yards rushing and 3,000 yards passing in a season for the first time in school history. Balance.

One thing we can't forget about that - Alabama had studs.

No offense to our team but I don't see no Eddy Lacey's, TJ Yeldon's, or even McCarron's, and we def don't have their receivers. I feel as if our talent is more equatable to that of UM and we saw how that went for Nuss this year.

Maybe this will work out, I can only hope.

Nussmeier came to Michigan and has said that he wants a physical offense that establishes the run, just as U-M head coach Brady Hoke has always said he wanted. So far, that hasn't worked well this year. The Wolverines rushed for 350 and 276 yards against lower FBS opponents but were stymied in the losses at Notre Dame (100 total rushing yards) and against Utah (118).
 Definitely not loving this hire, not even a little.

They asked Mac what we should call his offense. He said he didnt know but it was going to be a blast. I cant wait.

Evidently Mac took Nussmeier with him to multiple gigs so he must be the man Mac wanted. As someone previously pointed out, Bama set all-time offensive records under Nuss

He was probably parroting the company line under the Meechagan coach. Mac knows him as good or better than anybody so they will be on the same page.

I like that they are friends and familiar with each other...philosophy will not be a problem. There are three elements to offense: Scheme; Players; Execution. I think we have to wait and see what they come up with based on the level of talent they are dealing with. Then look forward to recruiting towards what they want to do. I say good hire.

This is the safe hire. Nuss is a guy that CJM is comfortable with and trusts. I dont think the OC will matter much because it will be McElwain's offense and gameplan, the OC will be a sounding board and probably call plays on gameday, with input from McElwain. So I dont mind going with the safe hire, and I do believe he is better than Devin Gardner made him look.
