Oh great, it appears that some of you who have been incessantly bitching for the last 3.5 years or so about the previous coach and his staff, will now be bitching for the next foreseeable years about THE NEW staff. Yay for the rest of us readers!

Seems like Mac and Nuss coached Q B's have done quite well overall, even though their talent has not translated well to the next level. The more I read about our new coaches the better I feel about the future.

No one's been able to succeed at Michigan lately, but Rich Rod was able to be fine after them. And he had some balanced teams when he played with Bama and of course coach Mac will have a say on the offense. I think you guys need to relax a bit

So blame Muschamp for handcuffing our OCs, but assume Hoke wasn't dictating anything Nuss did there?
Well, the offense at Bama sucked, so Saban went out and hired a guy who would air it out. Then their offense improved drastically. And then Meatchicken's offense sucked. Where does the evidence lead you?

I hope that you guys are right and that it won't matter bc Mac will be the real OC. However, it's a real damn long way from the original posts by Mac's agent about bringing fun and gun back to Gainesville.... and Nussmeier, the guy that was too conservative for Saban.

So i guess we can call him dougie freshmier

If we can call him that I'm ok with this hire.
But seriously as long as he knows how to develop players and recruit it's a good hire. We're gonna run Mac's offense not Dougie Freshmier's.

Law I know you don't read my posts, but for those that do, it is important to consider the following:

Based on Bama's offensive personnel during Nuss's second year ~ offensive line, QB, receivers and running backs, running the ball was their best option. The year prior, the offense gained over 3,000 yards rushing and over 3,000 yards receiving, which set Bama's all time offensive records.

We don't have that kind of personnel. Nothing on his resume says he's done more with less. That being said, it's not going to be his offense. The appealing part of this hire is how familiar him and mclwain are. He's a career qb coach that should be able to do what mclwain wants to a t. That's one thing we've lacked on the offensive side of the coaching staff is cohesiveness. If he can recruit we should be fine.

We do have the personnel.... You say we don't because it's been hidden the last 4 years. There is loads of talent waiting to be developed

Regarding QB's, you and I don't really know what he has had to work with. Bama had some good receivers but the QB's were simply 'game managers'

He's got more than Bama on his resume'. He led Washington from the 118th ranked offense (sound familiar) the year before he got there to 25th, and the best offense in Washington history. We've now got two dudes who know offense, a huge change from the last 4 years.

This thread on this hire. Really guys. Can we give the man a chance to coach a game or two before we lynch him?

Thanks for the great info. I had not looked back at his time at Washington. Bottom line is, Mac wants to be successful and he appears to be convinced that Nuss is the man he wants for the job.
