Tough to judge Nuss's results at Michigan this year just like it's tough to judge Roper's results at UF this year. Both were working for HC's with seemingly different offensive philosophies, and both were likely hindered by their HC's. Glad Mac hired someone with whom he has a previous working relationship and chemistry.

He has good experience, has worked well with our head coach in the past, has had success including setting school records while winning a national title, and rumor is he is a good recruiter. I think this is a good hire.

Yeah, I agree with Sasquatch's comment about prejudging. I think this has the potential to be a huge hire.

BTW, screw Dan Mullen. What an ass.

Saban begged him to throw the ball more
It's hard for me to believe that Saban begged an assistant to do anything. He's a dictator not a coaxer.

That's why I was hesitant to call him out. It made no sense he would be on Winston's jock. Being a Cane lover and all. But the styles are identical. Must just be because the Canes have been irrelevant for over a decade. :dunno:
In My Eyes/Cane Thing was definitely not a Cane. He was just some guy with a lot of time on his hands that liked to troll. I'm almost positive he was a Gator fan with bad trolling skills and a stupid hobby. He knew more about the Gator offensive line depth than he knew about any one starter at UM. I'm really surprised anyone still believes he was a Cane. He would also make glaringly obvious intentional malapropisms like "smoking mirrors" etc.. It was pretty obvious the whole thing was an act.

Guys at TideFans.com saying this guy was predictable and boring.

That's pretty much what I'd expect them to say. I sure would love the be as bored as they were during those seasons BAMA. So I would rate their assessment as:
Mac/Nuss > Muschamp.

I think it's important for a new coach in new surroundings to have someone with whom he's familiar with. Maybe it is a terminology thing too. It seems we always hear about that being an issue between coaches and players when hiring a new coordinator. It could also be that if Mac wants to make a change of play or have input there it would be critical that they are on the same page. How many times have we seen a HC and an assistant getting into it on the sideline because not everyone was on the same page. A lot of people on here are saying that it will be Macs offense regardless of who the OC is, it might be that Mac likes him as a developmental guy. Lord knows we've been missing that on offense for a while.
Muschamp has made me leary of any incoming OC but I also think we have to trust the new coach to get right what he couldn't.

Can anyone answer this; why did Nuss leave Alabama for Michigan and why did Alabama not put up much of a fight for him?

I am not trying to start a pissing match, I am just wanting to understand that whole transition.
Money and challenge.

Not liking these hires at all. A DC who has had poor defenses 3 out of the last 4 years and now this. I wonder if Foley penny pinching is causing this. I have a feeling when we see the salaries for next season our DC and OC will be nowhere in the ballpark of the better paid ones in the SEC.

Oh great, it appears that some of you who have been incessantly bitching for the last 3.5 years or so about the previous coach and his staff, will now be bitching for the next foreseeable years about THE NEW staff. Yay for the rest of us readers!

Fever just wondering if someone else out there looks any better. Who should he have hired IYO?

One thing we can't forget about that - Alabama had studs.

No offense to our team but I don't see no Eddy Lacey's, TJ Yeldon's, or even McCarron's, and we def don't have their receivers. I feel as if our talent is more equatable to that of UM and we saw how that went for Nuss this year.

Maybe this will work out, I can only hope.

It has me a little nervous also after watching Michigan.
