Fever just wondering if someone else out there looks any better. Who should he have hired IYO?

I was hoping he took the Bama WR coach Napier if it was going to be someone familiar.

interesting because Nussmeier has OC experience and won NC's.....Not saying Napier wouldn't be good but look at their track records.

It's hard for me to believe that Saban begged an assistant to do anything. He's a dictator not a coaxer.
Yes....he beats his coaches into submission...I can only imagine someone taking a risk under Saban that was not Saban's idea. Forces people to be conservative.

I just cant get over how bad Michigan was on offense and how their QB regressed under him. He comes off to me as someone who will only look good as an OC when his players are clearly superior to yours. Even Saban thought he was too conservative supposedly. At Bama they just rammed it down people's throats and had wide open play action passes mostly when he was there. Hopefully McElwain is 100% hands on with our offense and really dictates the play calling.

Not liking these hires at all. A DC who has had poor defenses 3 out of the last 4 years and now this. I wonder if Foley penny pinching is causing this. I have a feeling when we see the salaries for next season our DC and OC will be nowhere in the ballpark of the better paid ones in the SEC.

I'm convinced there is nothing in life that makes you happy.

And the problem with that is??? J/K. It may be that Mac will take most of the playcalling responsibility. It could boil down the familiarity with terminology or maybe he likes the way Nuss teaches or develops players. Hell, I wouldn't have a problem with him teaching our guys how to ram the ball down everyone's throat and throw to wide open play action either.

lol - I was happy when Muschamp got fired. Sorry can't get excited about this (hopefully McElwain controls the offense for the most part) and we would be laughing if Georgia or FSU hired the Michigan OC. They were a train wreck under him and supposedly this guy was too conservative for even Saban.

The problem is what do you do when you don't have Bama's players = see Michigan with him as OC.

So when anyone post anything positive about one of our coaches, do you just flat out ignore it?

Michigan has been a total wreck. It is the institution and not the coaches. Rich Rod look horrible there and he seems to be doing pretty well once again. I don't know that Cheeseburger, Pease, and Roper were all god awful hires, but everything about the offense has sucked for a long time. Now things have been cleaned up, have talent in almost all areas, and a coach that knows how to manage a roster and coach 'em up.

No - I am just not going to cheer a hire that I think is a poor hire. I am glad that the offense is McElwain's in reality and hope he really leans on the play calling a lot so maybe it won't matter that much.

But you can't say he's a poor hire yet. He hasn't called a single play.

We just need a bunch of hungry minds coming together that can impart that mantra into a talent pool and resources now available to them. You either want to bask in the lime light of Championships or you don't. Here's to McElwain saying, I finally got my horses and story book era here I come.

Are you aware that Mac and Nussmeier coached offense together for 3 seasons at Michigan State?

True but I highly doubt anyone here would claim this was a pretty good hire if another team hired him as OC for this upcoming season.

Mac's is the only opinion that counts. Get on the train!
