Who do we get to replace Summers?

I don't think Summers is at fault at all. Look what he has had to work with. Basically left over lineman with no quality depth thanks to Muschamp recruiting zero
How is he not responsible????? He is the F'ing OL coach. It is his job to develop blocking schemes they can execute. If the talent level is not there, HE, is 100% responsible. It appears top level OL do not want to play for him, it amazing he survived last season.

And, Nord needs to be shown the door at the same time as Summers. We do not even attempt to block kicks anymore and Callaway's shenanigans fair catching inside the 10 are unacceptable. Our Special Teams are not Special.

Maybe it is the fact that top O lineman don't want to play for us anymore. Our special teams coach does need to go. But the line has done better this year despite what some are saying. Are they good? No but this was a line last year that was absolutely dead last in the country and terrible and this year they've definitely improved my leaps and bounds. They did fine in the first half against Tennessee when the coaches were letting them attack. They started doing terrible when we started running against a stacked box and setting ourselves up for 3rd and long and they got to us then.

I think it is clear that Summers needs to go. The OL has seen little to no improvement. David Sharp who is a 5* recruit gets killed. Ivey hasn't shown us anything he was the top OL in the nation!

My thought is that Jeff Grimes from LSU will most likely be looking for a new place to coach. He is an SEC guy who is recruiting top talent at OL already, so he has relationships that we could use!

Any other potential candidates?
David Sharpe was NOT a five star on anyone's list. Ivey does appear to be a gigantic bust. He's not even good, much less the consensus top offensive lineman coming out of high school. He was awful against Tennesse, with one play still in my mind. UF had good field position after Tennessee's 1st TD when they kicked off out of bounds, but on third down, had a screen set up nicely except Ivey whiffed on his block and UF had another three and out.
If you get rid of Summers, not only does it reflect badly on McElwain's ability to evaluate assistant coaches, it would be a negative perception of the stability of the coaching staff. UF has already had to fire one assistant after McElwain's first year. It might not be the coaching, it might be the players.

So we are supposed to keep position coaches not getting the job done so we dont create a negative perception of stability. That is the same talk that got us stuck with Muschamp for a 4th season.

Who recruits the players? If it is a player problem on the OL... Then I blame the OL coach and want somebody who will do better

Summers has been here for 3 years... Most of this line is his recruits. Some have been under his guidance for 3 years. He doesn't have much to work with because he walked into a bad situation, but the situation hasn't gotten better either which is on him. He isn't had fault for 7-8 years of bad offensive line recruiting, but he is at fault for the last 3.

I'd be proud if McElwain established his reputation as an HC that you'd better produce
excellent results for his team or else you're gone. With that kind of reputation, hopefully,
only coaches who were certain they could fulfill Mac's demanding coaching style would
accept to coach the Florida Gators. (Seems Saban has that kind of reputation.?)

Well I don't know if we can blame Sharp and Ivey on Summers. But Sharp is awful and Ivey can't block. Mac doesn't seem to be able to recruit or hire a decent staff. Yeah, I know. I'm still hung over from that UT fiasco.

He recruited them and is coaching them. Why wouldn't we blame them on him? He is either really bad at getting the talent out of top linemen or he is really bad at evaluating them.

I can't argue with that.

I have watched a lot of tape of the games and Sharpe isn't that bad. People make too much of it when they see that speed guy run past a tackle on occasion with the announcer pointing it out. In what I have saw Ivey and Johnson are the two making a lot of mental mistakes not Sharpe and Taylor. Johnson was a train wreck when we couldn't run the ball in the 2nd half against Tenn.

He's been a train wreck all year. Thank goodness we keep him in the game all the time.
