We've been trying to tell UT fans pre-season rankings and September wins are only as good as the rest of your season, but they just keep on claiming pre-mature championships anyway. I don't think they'll ever learn...

Being battered by Alabama didn’t cost Tennessee a division title. Neither did seven turnovers in a double-overtime loss to Texas A&M.

Its championship venture was wrecked by a 24-21 loss to 13-point underdog South Carolina on the last Saturday of October. That was a game UT knew it couldn’t afford to lose. And it lost.
Thanks Will..............
When UT coach Butch Jones was asked about the East title that got away, he responded predictably. "We just want to be 1-0 each week," he said.

The Vols celebrate going 1-0. The Gators celebrate going to the SEC championship.

Jones delivers another catchphrase. Florida coach coach Jim McElwain delivers another divisional title.

In fact, McElwain has done more in two seasons at Florida than Jones has done in four at Tennessee.

Good article, written by a UT beat writer. Jones has assembled very good talent there and they have been ridiculously inconsistent. They gave up 400+ rushing yards to 3 win Missouri yesterday and over 600 yards on D. WTF? That's inexcusable. He loses his QB and a lot of talent on D next year. Will be interesting to see who they replace Dobbs with and how they come into next season. I'm glad we get them in Gainesville (and LSU the next TWO years in Gainesville!!! :D ).

UT fans in Knoxville LOATHE John Adams. I think he's hysterical, particularly in moments like this when he puts them in their place.

Actually over 700 yards...most in school history I think.

Didn't Chump have two wins with under 125 yards of total offense?
Im sure he did,..............but Misery beating our assses in Gville with UNDER 100 yds is still the craziest thing I can remember about him

No, he had two losses while holding the opponent to under 125 yards. It was some ridiculous stat, we were the only team in over 800 games to hold a team under 125 yards and lose....and he did it twice!

Tennessee's Defense:

http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/te...-yards-in-five-games-than-alabama-all-season/

Tennessee’s defense gave up more yards in five games than Alabama has all year

Bob Shoops signed a three-year contract with Tennessee this offseason that will pay him $1.15 million annually. The Vols’ defensive performance over their past five SEC games might not be what Butch Jones was hoping for.

Tennessee has given up 2,886 yards of offense in its last five games against SEC opponents. In Saturday’s win, the Vols’ defense surrendered a whopping 740 yards to Missouri and allowed Kentucky to gain 635 yards the week prior.

By comparison, opponents have gained a total of 2,779 yards against Alabama this season.

Injuries have played a factor on defense for Tennessee this season, but it’s discouraging to see the Vols ranked 100th in total defense this season.
