I think he should be able to do that (this year) with a couple of special teams "specialist" aka Brandon James PR / Demps KR.

It aint about selling, it's about buying. I don't give a rats "how" mac sells, as long as the blue chippers buy. What he's been selling lately is still sitting on the discount rack gathering dust.

If one looks at Mac's recruiting history, he probably could only procure a Sherman tank with a half stripped transmission, and that constantly slips it's tracks. So, he'd get stuck in the Glades looking for the next Fred Taylor, etc.

I mean Lingard is def a top priority for next year and it would be a nice get for 2018....
But it's a damn 2018 player; you can find time to go after next year's players but you cant find any time to hire new coaches.....

I can remember this happening in the past. Sometimes it is just best to not fill a position until after signing days.

The thing is if it was just summer's id partially agree with that but we have had an opening since early december...there is no excuse.
Also, can you name a single positive about waiting till after NSD?

I agree that the mid December openning not being filled is the oddity.
As for a single positive, if McElwain has identified a kickass and take not prisoner's OL coach to hire, maybe not naming him keeps people from scaring off current commitments and with such a coach we are going to need bodies. I sort of doubt this, but it would be a positive about not announcing the hire now.
