You have data on your side of the argument as well:
1. Offensive stats and rankings are data.
2. Performance against ranked teams is data.
3. Recruiting ranking is data.
4. Recruiting success in the state of Florida is data.
5. In game management while maybe not quantitative is qualitative data.
I can go on but the point being that win / loss record is not the only data out there.
The big issue IMHO is the disaster at QB post-Tebow. We've had solid OL and other positions except, until recently, WR. (And maybe that group looks better with a solid QB.) Muschamp ruined Driskel, blew it with Brissett. 2012 was a good year but inconsistent at QB. Other than 6 games of Grier...
So my first question for Mac is this: Several other programs went with talented but inexperienced freshmen and developed them over the course of the year, why not UF? Is Franks that much of a project? Is Trask just another stiff?
And with what was in the cupboard and on the radar at the time, why not commit to Grier that he had a clear path to having his job back after the suspension? Maybe that's a principle you can't back off and probably there was more to it than we know, but in hindsight Del Río could have held the fort the first six games we'd have had a great passer & developing WR corps thus an at least decent offense.
The projected class looks like it will fill our needs, but if Franks or Trask can't beat out Del Río then we will continue to suck on offense. WR are open, but someone has to deliver the ball accurately and on time, plus be able to make a play when things break down.
That said, I think most would have welcomed 10 wins and 2 trips to Atlanta in August of 2015 and 2016. But the embarrassing end to 2015 and the FSU/Bama thrashings this year hurt. We are a QB or 2 away from real improvement.
I guess I took dislike as hate.................my bad....................
It's not the only one that matters when trying to assess the future of the program.
And it's never hate Coach, just disagree.
I do not necessarily disagree with you. Mac may be absolutely horrible at recruiting. Here I am making 2 statements. One, we need to be talking to kids earlier and we have not been doing that for several years now...I believe started under Meyer. You don't have to flip them then. You get to know them, etc.
And Two, there is not a Meyer on every corner (someone who can flip people/players). It takes someone who is damn good.
Well now 3. Meyer was not necessarily the cat's meow. He crashed at Florida and left a **** pile and chose some doozies. I do not want anymore Hernandez's or Harvins on the team.
Hard to disagree with this statementIf LDR starts against Michigan Mac needs to be fired on the spot.
Absolutely. But not completely.Do people think our recruiting and player situation is due to Mac?
Interesting response to the article. It certainly doesn't mean UF doesn't need to improve, but does show a good deal of bias...
ESPN got it wrong about Florida football’s recruiting woes. Read more at seccountry.com:

The article that ATX provided a link to points out the following.
Trinity Christian (Jacksonville) assistant coach Gerald Ross is quoted as saying that “From my experience, and how (Florida has) been around us, they tend to wait until that kid has those big-time, Power 5 offers and then they try to sneak in.” However, Gerald Ross played for the Seminoles and has an obvious bias.
The ESPN article uses coveted defensive back recruit Shaun Wade, who enrolled at Ohio State, as an example. Wade’s father Randy said his family would have preferred Florida, but already had built a relationship with Ohio State.
Ohio State offered Wade in May 2014. Florida offered Wade eight months later.
But McElwain wasn’t the head coach until December 2014. Florida’s staff offered Wade less than two months after McElwain took the Florida job. That seems like a reasonable delay considering McElwain was focused on closing the 2015 recruiting class, improving its ranking from No. 92 to No. 21.
What isn’t mentioned in the ESPN article is that Armwood High School (Seffner, Fla.) head coach Sean Callahan — quoted speaking quite negatively about Florida’s assistant coaches — is Kirk Callahan’s father. Callahan was a defensive backs coach that reportedly did not get along well with the other assistants and McElwain fired him.
The author of the article, Derek Tyson, interviewed a Seminole player and the father of someone that McElwain fired. Then he fails to inform the reader of the obvious conflict of interest with Callahan and he also fails to tell the reader the timeline on Mac's hiring and Shaun Wade.
Given this information it's obvious the ESPN article is a hatchet job written by a person with either a clear bias or very poor journalism skills.

Everyone is conspiring against Mac...recruits included. The article that ATX provided a link to points out the following.

Yawn..... temper your expectations ATX.
I started laughing my ass off. When I clicked the link in the upper right corner there was a description of Kai Leon Herbert that says he is STILL COMMITTED TO MICHIGAN. Buwhahahahaha...he decommitted a few days ago. HOW can I take that propaganda piece about Gator recruiting when they don't have current info on our own guys we are chasing?
What hack/spin job by the UF machine. Looks like we need to clean house in a lot of depts not just the HBC(sorry 2222).
The bias in the ESPN article is pretty obvious based on what was reported in the article I posted. Now... that doesn't mean that the ESPN article is completely wrong... Wade was a bad example as Mac didn't become coach until two months before we offered him, but we certainly have been behind on key recruits and obviously don't have the relationships needed to get them.
You don't need an ESPN article to see that our recruiting is way below what it should be.
I was just pointing out the article because it relates to showing how bad the journalism in the ESPN article was.
What bias? You yourself agree with the premise, right? Mac is recruiting at a level that is subpar from all his predecessors. Fact.
The rebuttal from one of our own mouthpieces is hilarious. It's sad that this is even going on. Damage control?
