I understand some of the fears, but from an overall roster management viewpoint Mac is covering all the bases.

I'm a pumper and I have trouble jumping on your hype train. The typical "big signing day" is getting 2-3 big announcements. Hoping for 8-10 4*s on NSD is a bit unrealistic. Call me chicken little, but I don't like the lack of momentum leading up to NSD.

That said, I would love to see you hand us all a big plate of crow in another week. I got enough Sonny's sweet sauce to make it edible.

Why in the world would we intentionally have several good recruits wait until NSD? It'd be one thing if we had a top class and all the momentum we could handle, but that ain't us right now.

I can see 1-3 guys doing this b/c they couldn't bring themselves to decommit from another coach. We've seen how Saban reacts to that. There's also the occasional trickster who wants a rival to think he's coming and then gives them a surprise on NSD, but that's weak and not that common (I think). 8-10 high-quality recruits announcing for us on NSD? I'd love it, but I'm way skeptical. Seems like a recipe for getting hopes up and raising expectations, and that's not what Mac needs to do right now.

I do think it is probably that those 5 players sign with Florida, but that certainly is not enough to give us even a good class. We need to sign at a minimum 8 more and really we need about 10 more players. From what I am hearing it is likely going to be 8...

So lets look at those..

Henderson - In State Player - likely to UF, but took an unofficial to Miami and recently went to Miami... not a lock
Robinson - In State Player - likely to UF, but also going to Ohio State...
Hebert - In State Player - De-committed from Michigan... likely to UF, but Miami also in the works.
Slaton - In State Player - sounds like UF is leading... he would be a big get
Stewart - Out of State (LA) - likely to UF, but LSU is always a threat for players in LA

So 4/5 are not in-state. I definitely get that players could want the attention, but I also think coaches should be able to convince them of the value of committing... especially this close. Now if they are truly already "silent" then hopefully they are talking to other recruits, etc..., but a public commitment looks a lot better... doesn't it?

Oh... and if we lose Blades we need to get 9 more...

I agree, but you cannot get players that others want without others trying to recruit them.

Get ready gators, our football team is about to close STRONG on signing day. We have so many top prospects visiting and guys cb'd to us. We will end up with a great class addressing our positions of need and gain much needed depth at EVERY position. It's great to have a head coach who understands what needs to be done and has the foresight to fix problems when they arise instead of meandering around doing nothing.
What has Mac done in the past to make you believe what you wrote?

Clearly it has nothing to do with Mac, but more to do with these babies!

I understand some of the fears, but from an overall roster management viewpoint Mac is covering all the bases. He's creating a balanced program, not lopsided to either offense or defense alone. This is hugely important because Muschamp did get some 5 stars, BUT where was the depth when they got tired? The answer is that there was very little depth at all. You can have every position be a 5 star but if there are no backups behind them you can rotate in you'll run out of steam quickly to the teams like Bama etc.....

Serious question: shouldn't you be out recruiting instead of waisting time on this message board, coach Mac.

But when our starters got tired we had quality backups who gave very good reps. I remember that dline of Moss and harvey in 06' and that really won us that OSU game because we could rotate in different guys who didn't miss a beat.

The jury is still out on whether or not this is true, but since he didn't recruit a DT in either of his first two classes, I have a hard time believing that this is a balanced program. We'll see what happens next week. I hope you are right.

I agree we will suck on both offense and defense this year.

His roster management is worse than Chimp. I never thought I would say that. So you think a roster of a few five stars backed up by three stars is inferior to a roster of three stars backed up by three stars? lulz whatever, dude.

I would love to be positive, but I haven't seen anything that makes me believe this is true. I hope it is, but I am not getting my hopes up

I agree. Experience is a big factor in the inexact art of prediction. Butter's experience at recruiting = :poop:

I just love it when Bulletin Board Experts tell us what is going to happen. Aren't these the same guys who routinely pick about 30% of the winners on any given Saturday.

Hard to have confidence in any of their predictions.

Im over the lack of recruiting and sense of urgency that has become the headline of our program. However I am looking at this from both sides:

1. Our staff sucks and we are scrambling to find kids to close it out (Most likely)
or
2. Mac is waiting to have kids commit/announce on NSD to create a big finish.

Whats the reason, I think Mac wants the Gators to be mentioned on national tv, internet and message boards all over the country. If ESPNU keeps announcing the Gators get 4* (Whomever) 8 or 9 times its going to hopefully create a little momentum trying to land some quality 2018 kids. Mac maybe trying to use this to put out this dumpster fire we have become. Just my $0.02. Go Gators!!!

Oh don't get me started on the coaching hires.....

It is fun to laugh at 4224, isn't it?

I wonder if that's actually Brad. Seems like something he'd do.

Why did we request ESPN not to have a reporter live on signing day then?
