The fact that we've had 3 of our worst recruiting classes ever since he's been hired to head up that department. That's one for starters.

See, that's the point. People don't really know anything about Drew Hughes, but they are willing to follow the lead of a couple of people that are negative about everything.
Drew Hughes was hired to head up that department by Muschamp in 2013. He has been there for classes ranked by Rivals as #4, #8, #9, #14 and Mac's initial class which was #23.
Three of the five classes he has overseen have been top 10. This despite one being a lame duck/new coach and the fact that many on this board think the majority of the assistant coaches can't recruit.
It sounds to me like he is doing a great job.
Drew Hughes was also a recruiting specialist at Alabama from 2007 - 2013. His credentials are impressive.
Muschamp is known as a great recruiter and he initially hired Hughes away from Bama and is trying desperately to get him back.
Again, give me any information that Drew Hughes is not good at his job.

To be honest, I haven't heard anything bad about Hughes except from people on this board. One pointed to an unverified story about a recruit coming to UF on an unofficial. It's simply a rumor and haven't heard anything to confirm it. I have heard that he has a smaller staff than any of the big programs. Not real sure where the hate on hear came from.

He was being called a "Bammer intern" and hated here on the forum a short while ago. I have no idea why anyone dislikes him either. I think it's just a product of the "hate everything" group think.

So far I can't find it anywhere on the internet, but I remember McElwain talking about Brad Davis when Davis was an opposing coach visiting the Swamp. My recollection is that McElwain talked about how Davis was an assistant he had been keeping an eye on because he was a rising star.
Does anyone else remember that or is my Anheiser's (don't always drink Bud, but often enough) kicking in?

You tell me. Show me any evidence that Hughes does not do a good job. You have been telling us emphatically that Mac and all of the assistants absolutely suck at recruiting. Now you are saying it's Hughes fault?
If Muschamp is a great recruiter and Hughes is horrible at his job then why has Muschamp repeatedly tried to hire him?
Again, show me an article, tweet or anything where anyone who actually knows recruiting says that Hughes is not good at his job.

Our class average is down from before he got here. And you show me an article or anything that isn't pumping this staff and its every move. Recruiting has been down and unorganized and he's incharge of that department. We're not recruiting like we freakin used to. Do you not agree with that?

So you are saying that you have no idea if he does a good job or not, you simply know that this class isn't as highly ranked as the 2013 class Hughes was here for as well and that means he sucks?

No. He saying that recruiting has been disorganized and a disaster since he has been in charge of it. That's his job. To head up recruiting. And recruiting has been bad. Hence he has decided be a poor job. That's pretty linear.

Drew Hughes was in charge of recruiting under Muschamp when we were landing top 5 classes.
Therefore, Drew Hughes was doing a great job when Muschamp was here. You guys all say that Mac and his assistants suck at recruiting. However, the guy that was doing great is now a bum.

You really can't use the class average approach, since Mac's classes are trending upward. If you were trying to get a raise and your primary metric had improved, you wouldn't tell your boss to look at your average performance. It doesn't mean Mac is doing a bang up job, just that his classes have improved every year, rating wise.
I don't know if the recruiting arena at UF is disorganized. If so, it falls on Mac. It's on him to get the right people in place and make sure they have sufficient resources. It's on him. If Hughes sucks, why keep him? It's Mac's ass on the line, so he should be able to choose who he takes with him into battle.

Great recruiter muschamp pulled in an awful class this year. His idea to fix it? Bring Hughes on board. Seems to be a pretty good endorsement of his capabilities.
Hughes appeared to be instrumental in the final weeks leading up to the strong NSD close.

There is one dude reaponsible for recruiting and only recruiting. If he cant do his job, he should be fired. If he is good at recruiting but cant convince Mac to follow his advise, he should be fired and replaced.
The same goes for Nusschump and Nord.
