Why is Nord still on the staff?

Good question; with the staff positions being announced today there are 0 changes with Nord.

Mac is allowing his friendship to blind him with the fact that under Nord our ST and TE's have gotten worse under his coaching. Nord also is one of the worst recruiters to ever step foot on campus.

This is primarily why I have no faith in Mac to ever make it here. Hold's friendships and other factors higher than the university; you want to be friends? Cool, go be friends but do it somewhere else. The SEC and football in general has become much more cut-throat and you have to be willing to do what it takes to win including firing friends...Mac unfortunately doesn't believe that.

Like this post two pages back:

Or this

Or this

I'm not saying that the Donkey repeats himself but I am saying the Donkey repeats himself.
None of that has anything to do with the fact that hes stated a few times that those level coaches are ok as long as they aren't the regular. Hes griping about it because its happening too frequently. Why dont you find the post where he states what I'm saying. I've seen him do so, pretty sure he did in this thread.

Florida: Running backs coach Tim Skipper has officially moved to linebackers coach, and defensive line coach Chris Rumph has added the title of co-defensive coordinator.

http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/fl...es-new-assignments-several-assistant-coaches/

In addition to losing defensive coordinator Geoff Collins to Temple this offseason and promoting Randy Shannon to the position, there has been a lot of turnover on Jim McElwain’s staff.

On Friday morning, the school announced the changes to two coach’s roles as well as what roles three new assistants will fill in 2017.

The new assignments, which the school announced in a press release, are as follows:

  • Chris Rumph – Co-Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Line
  • Tim Skipper – Assistant Coach, Linebackers
  • Corey Bell – Assistant Coach, Defensive Backs
  • Ja’Juan Seider – Assistant Coach, Running Backs
  • Brad Davis – Assistant Coach, Offensive Line
Bell, Seider and Davis are all new to the Florida program. Skipper, meanwhile, shifts from running backs coach to linebackers coach.

Due to Clemson’s reported interest in Rumph, Florida promoted him to co-defensive coordinator in addition to his current role as defensive line coach.

McElwain has put together quite a staff, which shows that he’s starting to come into his own in Gainesville. Whether that leads to a third-straight SEC East title in 2017, though, remains to be seen.

So Nord stays TE/ST then? Boooooo.

It's unbelievable. McElwain has only himself to blame. This guy is hands down the worst assistant coach at UF in years. Honestly, maybe Disch under Zook was about as bad (and I played HS football for Disch's brother and father-in-law so I'm sort-of a fan of that family...but he wasn't ready to be a coach at UF).

Nord staying on staff is almost a fireable offense. This is truly unbelievable.

Not sure that I got that. Could you repeat it?

Winning the East is like being the tallest midget (no offense, URG). It means nothing when you get blown out by Bama (and almost every good team we play).

Things have to improve drastically or he will be on the hot seat. Another year of 100+ ranked O and no QB will do it.

When are they voting on the 10th assistant? I can't wait to hear the bytch fest after that. And yet, it'll probably be warranted

I don't know how many of you listened to De La Torre and Spivey's podcast about the hires. Yikes! Here's a rundown of what they said.

1. Corey Bell - Based on experience, he never should have gotten the job. He's only been coaching DBs since 2014. Their argument was basically this, Charlie Strong is usually a good judge of coaches. If he likes him, then he is probably ok. To them, this was by far the worst hire.

2. Brad Davis - The complete opposite of Summers. If a guy screwed up, Summers was more likely to pat him on the back and say, "Do better next time." Davis will get in his face and tell him he sucks. If he doesn't play better, he'll find someone else. Davis is a typical o-line coach in that he's the meanest guy on the staff.

3. JuJuan Seider - Nothing bad to say here. They both liked the hire. The only question was can he recruit in the SEC.

4. Recruiting (Bell and Davis) - Their resume doesn't sell at all. Whether you liked Summers or not, his resume at least sold a bit. These guys have nothing to sell. They will have to sit in a living room and sell themselves. Can they do it? We have no idea. It is a huge question mark and one to be worried about.

5. Mac wants to lock down south Florida. The question is, are there to many hands in the cookie jar? He has a bunch of coaches whose only ties are to that part of the state and nowhere else. Is that good or bad? Spivey thought it a huge mistake. De La Torre didn't.

Good thing Spivey doesn't really know anything. Too many South Florida recruiters? :lmao2:

Wow, even Spivey, one of the king pumpers, admits he didnt like the hires?

We may be a lot farther down this path than I expected. It usually takes the pumpers a long, long time to accurately assess the situation.

The pumper liferaft is pretty empty.

That's not what he said or what I wrote. There is a difference in saying we have too many south Florida recruiters and saying that is all we have. His point is, too many of his staff only have ties to that area and nowhere else. We now have none on staff with ties to Georgia. Davis has ties to New Orleans, but he's never done any meaningful recruiting. I don't know enough to say whether or not this is good or bad. I just found it interesting.
