These guys had a bad time on the 40 OR a bad bench.... show successful players who did both

Norman ran a slower time and did 5 reps more. If we are going to act like 5 reps is some huge deal then I guess you're right

Tabor falling in the draft might be the best thing for the start of his career... He lacked work ethic, evidenced by his on the field play. He was the second or third best corner on the field for us most of the season. Maybe he needs the wake up call, he has the natural talent. Would make a solid slot corner in the NFL.

Agree on Tabor. These guys need good Pro Days or they'll lose a lot of signing bonus money.

Kiper? Fake news!
raw

https://harvardsportsanalysis.wordp...mel-kiper-jr-and-todd-mcshays-draft-rankings/

Summary: the best we can say is that neither Kiper or McShay is extraordinarily good at what they are paid to do, or even better than the other at doing it.

Bart, I 100% disagree. Those two guys have a job....they have support staff....and they have more connections in the business than anyone that is not a coach, NFL GM, scout, and/or an agent. They talk to the scouts, the agents, the GM's, the coaches, etc. It's what they do. And if McShay or Kiper put out a "mock draft" they are doing so w/ the knowledge that "player X has fallen in most people's eyes". They - and no one else - can predict when a team will make a trade, have a surprise pick (a reach), or go w/ a different position, pick "the best player available" vs. the needs of the team. It's like trying to pick a perfect NCAA bracket - you can't do it. So, what they do is research and put out what they find. If there was someone better at doing it I'm sure ESPN, SI, Fox Sports, etc would go get them....because Kiper isn't the most handsome man to look at on tv! When I see someone say that "Kiper is an idiot" or "McShay is clueless" it's usually because they are butthurt because one of their favorite players got "dissed" or whatever. These guys (Kiper & McShay) do this for a living! Sure, they make mistakes, but they are the best in the business (and it's a small business because they're really the only household names that do this)....

I'm not sure that you read the article. It's not based off of their mock draft. The data is based off of their top 25 players in the draft. They use data to compare the top 25 players that they chose versus the 25 best performing players that actually came from that draft.

I didn't see anything that had to do with the mock draft or where they landed.

For example everybody knew that JaMarcus Russell was going to be the top pick in the draft. But I think it was completely silly to say he was one of the top 25 players in that draft.

Kiper and McShay release two lists their mock draft and their best players on the board. The SaturdayDownSouth article references a Mock Draft and the Harvard article references their top 25 players. Those are two completely different lists. Last year the mock drafts had the two quarterbacks going in the first 5 picks, but they were not the top 10 available players on the board.

I've been pretty consistent with this for 2 years. It has nothing to do with his propensity to run his mouth and everything to do with him being over-rated. Never saw what you see in Tabor. When he's not getting beat long it's usual because he held and got a flag. He's slow, weak, and will be a bust. Been saying it for years.
But he is lucky...

Who's better? Which analyst should we be following instead?
Me, of course. :bart:
I'm just having fun man - I don't follow any of them - I don't put much stock in speculation upon speculation/hearsay.
I don't watch ESPN and I rarely look at mock drafts, and if I did, it would probably be basketball, not football.
I'll stop with my smartazz crap if you stop :nutswinger:for Kiper. Starting now.

Mike Mayock of NFL network, if someone truly has access it's the guy with the NFL brand behind him. But I prefer the NFL network to ESPN, and any other coverage of the draft.

Gil Brandt might be as good, or better.... Especially when he compares to the history of the league.
