Passing yards last few years
Chump:
2011; 2414 yards
2012; 1902 yards
2013; 2051 yards
2014; 2159 yards

Mac
2015; 2899 yards
2016; 2800 yards

I think it's safe to say if Trask or Franks play an entire season they will have over 3000 yards.

Unless the running game improves enough for Mac to want to rely on it a lot more. The thing I hate about the last 3 seasons is how we padded our offensive numbers so much early in the season - even more than usual.

Show me the quotes that say Trask is in the lead? I do know for a FACT that Franks does start out with the 1's at practice. I do for a FACT that Franks was the back up last year AHEAD of Trask. I do know for a FACT that Franks is a highly touted blue chipper and he actually has starting experience. Has Trask ever even started a game since the 8th grade? No? Great.

If you're so damn sure Franks is the clear starter then why do you leave key words out of your so called quote. As for your facts Franks started the first practice with the 1's Trask the second not sure after that and you're not either. Fact 2 riding home from the game when LDR got hurt Macs first words were we have to get TRASK ready to backup Applebee he later pronounced them equal but he tipped his hand in the shock of the moment. Whether you like it or not this QB battle is going to the last week of fall and it's just what Franks needs.

We were more of a roller coaster last year when it came to passing stats... top 3 games passing yardage wise: Kentucky (320), Tennessee (296), and Alamabama (261). We passed for under 200 against Vanderbilt (144), Georgia (131), LSU (144), and FSU (149). We went up and down a couple of times if you look at the game by game break down.

I’m looking at it from this perspective. Chump had roughly 2100 yards passing a year because that’s what he wanted. Chump reached his goals. Mac with all his talk about explosive plays and pushing the ball down field is aiming higher 3200-3500 yards. And we saw that with number of attempted downfield throws. Whether or not the QB/team is capable of that is another story.

If he hits 3,000 yards, do you think the Gainesville Sun will start to spell his name correctly? Or have they been reading this board too much?

Where is the 4 stringer who never sees the field option?

Depth chart:
LDR/Zaire
Franks
Toney (situational, may play before Franks unitl LDR is injured or flops so bad Butterteef finally pulls him... but maybe not if Zaire signs and is our running Qb)
Houston Baptist
Jake Allen

Allen may jump up a spot late in the year.

I quoted the headline and first sentence. Calm down. I'll support either guy. Franks was always the back up after LDR got hurt. Trask was third string. So that is a false statement or you are in denial. If Trask wins the job I will completely support him.

You are arguing with yourself at this point. I have REPEATEDLY stated may the best man win. I will support either.

Too many premature traskers on here. Time will tell.

I think most people believe Franks will start but are still pulling for Trask to be successful. We may need him.

Bacon you are good at Photoshop? :suspect2:

I couldn't even make that up! I took the screenshot yesterday because I knew it would eventually get caught and changed. But if you go to the Sun article and read the comments, several people talk about the typo. You'd hope that someone from the Sun would at least reach out and apologize to Trask.

It's been several years since we've thrown for 3,000 yards in a season or started the same QB in every game in a season. I think we are more likely to collectively throw for 3,000 yards this season but not all from the same person.

No. Most people are rooting for trask to start because of the cool story it would be. He's clearly the fan favorite. I would like to see both of em play live in a game but we probably don't have that luxury with Michigan being our first game.

And with 14 games a season now its not like its much of a feat. We used to scoff at QBs who could not throw for 300 yards a game. Now its our new gold standard apparently.
