All 5 Wisky starters scored in double figures and they shot 50% as a team - we had 1 player in double figures (Allen) and shot 45%. Interesting stat.
Our bench outscored theirs 20-3.

This is a VERY TOUGH time for Haters and Complainers and TROLLS as we go into the ELITE 8 which means if you don't already know that there are ONLY 8 teams left in the NCAA Tourney!! You don't have to play up to your potential to WIN. Cheese played up to his potential in that last second shot and we WIN. Gators WIN and you TROLLS LOSE!! Go Gators!!

Agreed. He's a young coach and he's learning.

Yes, this sometimes gets lost in the ebbs and flows of the season. He is talented and appealing but he doesn't have the level of experience that belong to college basketball's elite coaches. He will make some mistakes that more veteran coaches might not make but each game of this tournament run is adding experience to his coaching resume.

I remind myself that he will be a better, more experienced coach next year (and even Sunday afternoon) than he was before the game last night. I also remember that Coach K, Izzo, etc. were young coaches once who made bad decisions and learned from them.

What a block by Barry to chase that wide open guy or else that layup my seal the game.

Even better is the fact he didn't just foul him to keep him from scoring. He got in perfect position and timed it up so it was all ball. That block will get lost in the shuffle, but yeah, Cheese's shot never happens without it.
Chiozza's shot is definite play of the game/SC Top 10, but as you guys point out, top play likely doesn't happen w/o Barry's hustle and well-timed block. Plays I and Ia however you cut it.

A couple of comments regarding White's handling of the final minutes of offense during regulation. I may be wrong or right. Won't know for sure unless White goes into greater detail, but I feel certain he knows that everybody else knows how poorly we can shoot free throws and that Wisconsin would turn those last minutes into us having to shoot better than ever from the line to win. Odds wouldn't be in our favor, so I couldn't help but feel he was trying to shorten the game as much as possible and hopefully get some stops on the other end. Wisconsin's buzzer beater put the end of regulation management up for scrutiny. The fact that we were down three possessions in OT and came back is a testament to both the team and Coach White...what they have learned and how they have matured and what he has hammered home. They have a growing belief in themselves and have come a long way. Some of us have not been patient enough to notice. Chiozza is the poster boy for what has transpired over the course of these past two seasons.
To borrow a line from "Gladiator"..."Are you not entertained?"

White admitted in his post game presser that he should have fouled at the end of regulation. Good coaches admit when they're wrong. Great coaches don't make the mistake again. One thing that I really enjoy after watching the game winning replay dozens of times is White's reaction jumping off the bench. I'm happy for the guy and he's gotten us into position to possibly make the Final Four and none of us thought that was remotely possibly after Eggy went down.

**Edit that wasn't him. I like his Tiger Woods fist pump though haha

The Gators have now won 8 straight Sweet 16 matchups? Can this be true? If so, that is a hell of stat.

The block was the game changer. Everyone there saw the long pass and then Barry out of nowhere! Funny that I, and many others who saw the Chioza shot first thought " oh man, 2nd overtime". It's 1am and then I look up,at board and we are up one. I look around and say, I thought the Wisconsin dude made both free throws and then said, wait was that a three?

In real time you see where he lands so you think it's a two. Heard the Mick Hubert call. He too was not sure if two or three.

Holy Crap -- we're in the elite eight! More clawing and scratching from here on, being done by more & more talented fives. White and his crew can no more lollygag-gag on the sidecourt anymore. Got to get after it, grab the lead, and increase it unrelentingly. Then I'll sit back in my chair.

How much farther can we go with DRob scoring 7, Barry 7, and Chiozza 8, Hayes 8? Worth noting Stone scored 5 in 6 minutes playing time - worth noting. Hit his every shot 1/1 for 3 (really difficult one pressured in the corner), 1/1 for 2 = 5 pts. Perhaps use him earlier & more minutes maybe? USCe won't let Allen hit 25; they will frustrate him most likely. We need Mr. Super-co-ordinated DRob to shine now. Don't know, maybe with USCe's tight coverage Barry can drive for fouls? White needs to do better as a smart maestro.

Or perhaps that "almost gone home" game will wake the whole kit & kaboodle up and we play all in the 15 to 17 point range?? It's getting harder. Opponents are salivating, clawing & scratching towards devouring their way through this jungle misnamed a "dance".

I saw it was a three all the way. I loved Mick's call but it would have been ten times better if he actually knew it was the game winner as it went in. Either way I am f ing thrilled.

As I was jumping up and down immediately after the shot went in, I glanced and saw the ref had both hands up to indicate it was a 3, then I REALLY went ballistic.

Great night for you and your son!

Also lost in the mix were some HORRIBLE no calls by the refs in this game. There are 3 that jump to mind:
1. Near end of regulation, Showalter clearly carries the ball in his little "stutter step then launch prayer" three
2. End of regulation long inbounds pass - our Hayes (I think) gets mugged...no call
3. End of OT, their Hayes takes about 6 steps before sinking the go-ahead basket with 4 seconds left. Watching the slo-mo replay I was going ballistic.

There were many others...Napp (I think was his name..pretty boy) traveled every time he touched the ball, but got called once.

I thought it was horrible officiating. I don't mind letting them play in the tourney, but those were just horrible. We overcame the adversity on the court!

I am with you on this. It was a typical NCAA fiasco where late in the game it is ok for the lower seeded team behind is allowed to go over the back for any rebound without a call. I had flash backs to Casey Calvert going over UF's back to steal the last round of 16 game UF lost. At least 3 times in that 8-0 run they were overs UF's back on missed shots.

Robinson was the one who got fouled on the play at the end of regulation. He got absolutely mugged and they swallowed their whistles.
